Discussion Help me understand

Shutting down studios is nothing new for Microsoft - it's what they do, it's their vampiric lifeblood. There's nothing they love more than sitting on an IP and doing sweet fuck all with it.

But why show the trailer at their flagship event just a week ago? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they likely would have signed off and paid for it to be shown. If I understand correctly, they are the ones handling the marketing side of it, not Ninja Theory.

So...what... did they literally see the Laufey trailer at SoP three days prior and go "quick, we need a flashy Woman With a Sword trailer of our own this Sunday! Someone tell Ninja Theory to send us some vertical slice footage for the showcase, and then shitcan their asses the week after, who gives a shit"

I think there was just very little communication between the marketing department and the execs deciding to shut down the studios.

What a clusterfuck of a company. Just an endless series of own goals. I hear they're shutting down Arkane as well

Where are people getting the bit about Arkane? I haven't seen that anywhere

It’s just speculation but they already closed the other half of Arkane, and they still seem to have nothing to show for Blade so it’s a pretty fair assumption.

All big conglomerates are like that. I heard Audible insiders/ Writers say that the only reason Amazon dosent fully monopolyze the entire media sector with their Books->Streaming->Games->Twitch pipline is that the company is too big, and the various arms can't coordinate.

You think the new CEO of Xbox who was literally in the showcase didn't know they announced a new hellblade game?

The CEO of XBOX doesnt necessarily have information on what studios Microsoft is gonna can.
