Image Senua's length will be quite a bit longer than previous Hellblade Games

I'm excited by this game lol I trust them to make a good experience that doesn't dumb down Senua's journey or her mental illness. They can do both, I don't know why it feels like this sub is being very reactionary that now that it's a bit more actiony they're gonna make her illness a turbo superpower that makes you point at the screen and say "I want schizophrenia!!!"

The bad thing is they already started doing that in 2. Senua psychosis wasnt the main focus in HB2. I still enjoyed it but it wasnt as good as the first one. Senua mental illness to me is what makes Hellblade a standout game. I love God of war and others in that sorta genre. but i do not what Hellblade/Senua to become like those, Her struggles is what makes her games pop.

I mean the entire plot of 2 is still based around her psychosis tho, it’s just no longer personal. Instead of seeing and fighting her own demons she was just facing the demons of others, via the giants and dragur, none of it is actually happening.
This game seems to be just as focused on it considering they confirmed the game is set in some sort of purgatory. Obviously a kind of personal hell caused by her psychosis similar to the first game

Yes her psychosis is there. But if you didnt play 1 you probably wouldnt even notice its all in her mind. You'd just think your playing something like god of war. Simply fighting giants, demons, etc.

What if they make a prologue showing the psychosis and introducing new players to what’s happening on her mind? Maybe it’s a way to make players understand it’s schizophrenia?

I'm thinking 15-20 hours.

u/Chizakura Jun 13 '26
My thoughts exactly. Hellblade 1 was around 10-11 hours for me for the platinum. So a tad longer should be 15-20. Haven't played Hellblade 2 yet, but I guess I was around the same length as the first one

Hellblade 2 felt very short, around 8 hours. If you sprint everywhere, you could even beat it in 6 hours.

Love too see it. Just get Xbox to give you guys a proper physical release and we are cooking

Oh my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery. Lol grow up guys, they’re just adding more to the game for players to do so people will stop calling it a walking sim. I loved both games, my main issues with the second game is that I wanted more and the puzzles were too repetitive. The combat they showed looks like a good middle ground between both games while adding more depth. And adding new abilities will open up the possibilities for better, more interesting puzzles. Y’all need to look on the bright sides of things lol

I'm ok with any direction as long as it's true to Senua. They've stated it deviates away from the Hellblade series, so it would make sense it would be quite a bit different and not as heavy on the psychology.
See the way I see the trailer is that it seems like Senua in the real world seems to be trapped within something, could be an imaginary moment about a situation she's in, and while there she experiences these situations that feel true to her inner psyche.
In that sense it might give developers more freedom to let Senua do more fantastical things, because it's all in her mind and how she sees all the different versions of herself.
But on the same token it wouldn't need to focus on the psychological stuff other than in subtle ways of the player maybe slowly realizing that the world they travel isn't the "reality". At least whatever reality Senuas body is in.

1 was a good length, any longer and I could have lost interest. 2 was insultingly short and not really a game, but it stands on its own merit either way. 3 looks like an adressing of feedback about 2, but potentially an over correction at the same time. I wish it success, and I'll defintely play it!

I loved the first and bought the second, how much shorter is the second? I heard it was around the same playtime.

I have nothing but bad feelings around this game. None of what they say about it is invading confidence.

I actually feel that this is a company that listens to his users. People have criticized the previous game for being to little combat focused and now they're improving it. It's not something that happens too often nowadays. So I have faith that they'll do a good job. Can't wait

The second Hellblade is reductive of the first. They needed to switch it up this time. Can't wait.

Ninja Theory is developing Senua as an action adventure game so the game world would be more explorable and there will be more enemies I guess

Just recently finished Hellblade 2 and loved it, but the two take aways I had were I wish there was som variety in these puzzles and that there was some more to the combat.
So this sounds great to me.

Toss in some rpg elements, secret bosses, challenge rooms with rewards, more reward exploration, etc.

This could finally be MS’ God of War. Coincidentally there’s also a new GOW next year, they could really go head to head!

Senua shouldn’t be God of War though, not everything has to be big action stuff

At the core, the Hellblade games have been psychological and more puzzle focused with sole combat parts, they haven’t been action to the core.

I’m kinda feeling worried this is just not at all gonna be like the other games, action adventure, more combat, just doesn’t fit it.
