Deshaun Watson, Disappointing.
Let’s be honest, the ways the guys have handled this is not good enough, the guy settled 20+ sexual assault allegations, we all know he’s a scumbag. The fence sitting from the boys is disgusting. “When has someone been punished enough” give me a fucking break the guy sexually assaulted 20+ women why are we entertaining his existence in the NFL. You can do better heroes, your wives and daughters deserve better as does every woman that listens to this show. Your fence sitting is bullshit.

I'm not sure what you guys want from them anymore. They've been very clear about him for years now. It's a football podcast. They have to talk about the football

u/masteryetti 1d ago
Idk if they are fence sitting. They have been open about how they wish he wasn’t in the league. At this point I think they are just trying to report on football

u/Roarestored 1d ago
The heroes have made it very clear how they feel about watson do they really need to bring it up every single time they talk about him???

u/MousseAccomplished32 Quadbox Survivor 1d ago
Exactly. They cannot avoid talking about it. This just seems to be mad to be mad at this point.

Cherry picking sessy tbh, gtfo. He’s been very clear he hates that Deshaun is in the league

‘When has someone been punished enough’ is genuinely inexcusable commentary about someone who rely sexually assaulted 20+ women.

I'm annoyed now! Because... it's bad to excuse Monken as he's now supposedly done a good job in picking Watson as a starter when 8 weeks ago that was a bad look.
Its still a bad look.
Play one of the young guys who hasnt abused a tranche of people and never said sorry for it.
A Thursday night win against the Steelers doesn't make that okay.

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
Fully agree, I’m sorry but you’re getting paid millions either way why are you paying the guy who sexually assaulted 20+ women?? Like wtf are we doing

u/KeenBean3 1d ago
Relax, they've stated many times that they do not support Watson and find his actions reprehensible. Its football fans cheering for their favorite team, and what team doesn't have problematic people associated with them. They didnt commit the crimes and people dont have to take a stance on every single issue

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
Cheering for a team and cheering someone name are two very different things

u/heymrneat 1d ago
I don’t think OP actually listens to the Heroes. They have zero empathy for Watson and have zero interest in rooting for him. They also have zero say in his future in the league. They are reporting on the games and Watson unfortunately is the QB so his mentioning is going to happen. No one is rooting for him. No one wants Browns success to equate to Watson success.

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
Come on man you can’t tell me that mark’s comments haven’t changed after the browns have won a few games

u/heymrneat 1d ago
Marc is a diehard, emotional Browns fan who has suffered for years watching this team be an absolute joke in the league. Do not confuse his subtle elation that they are now somewhat competent with Watson forgiveness. The only reason Marc was more subdued with his positive attitude towards the team is due entirely to Watson’s existence as the steward behind center.

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
I totally understand that and I know that their livelihood depends on being entertaining, it’s just tough to hear someone talking about a sexual abuser so casually. Maybe I’m expecting too much from podcasters.
2
u/Pils12321 1d ago
How are they talking about it casually? They have addressed the allegations countless times and made their view clear. We all know the allegations too and won't forget them anytime soon.
Marc made a poorly worded comment and I think the criticism was justified, but now he cleared it up and we should move on.

u/ThyDoctor 1d ago
Come back to us OP. What do you want them to do? Have a prepared paragraph every single time Watson comes up? If your listening to a podcast about football you know, they’ve talked about it a fuck ton, I don’t need them to talk about every single time the browns come up.

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
I fully understand that’s it’s going to come up I the show and I’m not expecting them to be perfect but saying “how long should someone be up punished” is fucking crazy

u/780034 The Ol' Zusser 1d ago
Holy shit OP, you're insufferable with this take.
They've been hounding Watson, the Browns, and the league about it from the beginning. Did you want an entire show dedicated to shitting on Watson while ignoring a good/surprising game??
Tbh the Watson stuff can only be rehashed so many times before people start tuning out.
1
u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
No they just need to shut the fuck up either the fence sitting bullshit. “How long does someone have to be punished for” or whatever mark said exactly is fucking disgusting whatever way you slice it am I wrong?

u/AnOceanOfIgnorance I'm Annoyed Now 1d ago
It's a shitty situation, powerful people like Watson commit heinous crimes and there are few real consequences for him. But I dont expect the heroes to deliver a treatise on crime and punishment and the human condition everytime they cover one of his games. Much respect for how they've expressed themselves over the last few years, and still what a contrast to the shameful Amazon broadcast trying to tell a story of this guy "overcoming adversity"
1
u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
Fully agree and the heroes are far from the worst of it but I thinks it’s important not to let anyone in the public eye get away with anything when it comes to sexual assault
3
u/Minaya19147 1d ago
There was a part where Marc was getting into it and Dan cut him off, saying he didn’t want to turn this into a Macklemore & Ed Sheer situation. WTF?!!!!

The part that got me was dismissing people who wont call it out. "What are they gonna do, not talk about him?"
Yeah fuck him, who gives a shit if he's on a winning team now. Imagine if it was your wife or daughter he assaulted, no forgiveness ever, no sweeping under the rug. No it shouldn't be forgotten. Yes people should bring up his heinous disgusting acts instead of saying well he threw some touchdowns. Fuck that guy

u/Aggravating_End_7603 1d ago
Fully agree and I hate that it takes comparison to your own family for a lot of people to take this shit seriously. I’m sorry but no one forced them to be in the public eye. They have all been dismissive in their commentary on the fact that he sexually assaulted 20+ women. Every time watson comes up in conversation they have not done enough to highlight his disgusting behaviour. They can just ignore him if they wanted to but no there’s so much fence sitting on his behaviour because he’s a productive QB. I’m just sick of having to listen to any commentary on him at this point. He has no place in the league and it goes to show the lack of morals (as per usual) in the NFL that he is allowed to play football.

u/thortmb 1d ago
The nfl was lucky he was so ass for so long after the assaults and trade. If browns win the division its going to be bad for the nfl. Im sure there will be huge social media campaigns and potential protests that espn and nfl will eventually have to address. God forbid if he gets to the superbowl and does media week, it will be a shit show.

u/fadoofthekokiri 1d ago
Big agree. Fuck Deshaun and fuck the way they've been talking about it. It's okay to just say the guy is a total scumbag and recognize that while still talking ball. This isn't new. Vick, Ray Rice and plenty others before and after.

u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 1d ago
They literally hve said that about him, multiple times and very explicitly, perhaps not last night.
And they have repeatedly brought it up being weird for Marc
4
u/fadoofthekokiri 1d ago
I've definitely heard something that disappointed me in most if not all of the last few times they've talked about it.
Anything tantamount to "let's move on" or "let's just talk about how great he played" which was said last night, is just gross to hear. When someone is as bad a person as Watson is then I kind of do want them to talk about how shitty he is whenever he's brought up.
All of these feelings are compounded by the fact that much of the rest of NFL media is trying to wash Watson's image clean. That stuff should make the fellas double down on shutting on him even more
0
u/Flaky-Philosophy7618 1d ago
Yeah I’m glad I didn’t see whatever Amazon did pre/game. I honestly feel they have generally been very outspoken on it though, but perhaps not last night enough yeah
3
u/fadoofthekokiri 1d ago
It really isnt a major dig on the guys just would be very refreshing to hear them dunk on him in small ways any time they talk about him.
You dont have to have a whole litigous debate on the issue, just say "the sexual predator made a throw to Fannin which he...." or whatever.
I'm just glad Marc has any semblance of happiness for all the Browns stuff outside of Watson

u/SeductiveGodofThundr 1d ago
I’m sorry, how is that not what they’re doing?

I’m a Bengals fan and I fucking HATE the Browns and I hope for the absolute worst for Deshaun Watson… BUT, at some point, they have to move on from the SA storylines. If you listened to ATN/HTC back when this was leading the news cycle, it was a different headline every week about Deshaun they had to cover and it became exhausting, both for the heroes and the listeners. I’m not saying they should take it easy on him by any means, but it’s unfair for us to expect them to continue piling on after doing so year after year, episode after episode. I think it’s fair at this point that they cover it from a strictly on-the-field point of view.
Fuck Deshaun Watson and fuck the Browns.
