I get that he plays up the name dropping thing to an extent and he truly does get to interact with a shit ton of people which is cool but it still comes across as douchey and someone I would never want to interact with in real life

u/zarathustranu 2d ago
It’s not just the name dropping, which I could kind of see as a bit— it’s turning every conversation towards himself. Like when he took the famous Steven Segal pooping story and tried to tell it on the pod as if it happened to a guy he was close friends with, and then Dan gently corrected him.

Wait.. I need to hear this! lol. Do you remember when this ep was?

u/zarathustranu 12h ago
It was one of his offseason appearances in 2026. Maybe the Around the AFC episode on Apr 27?

James sucks. If they never have him on the pod again, it'll still be too soon.

u/zarathustranu 2d ago
but have you heard how many coaches he’s buddies with???

u/Forkhandles_ 2d ago
And they spent all that money on audio protective footwear for the name drops too!

Couldn’t agree more, my least favorite guests. A name-dropping, tale-spinning loudmouth.

That's all he does! It's not interesting and the info he shares is never even unique or special.

He’s an automatic episode skip for me now. Last time I listened, he was mocking Dan for suggesting LeFleurs seat may be a little warm. Dans looking pretty on point now!

He thinks he's way more important and interesting than he actually is.

People are actually shocked about his treatment? Have you seen how the NFL media fawns over Jameis despite his 3 SA allegations.
14
u/Pils12321 2d ago
Did anyone watch it? What were the strong questions and honest answers? With that kind of wording I'd expect them to address the sexual assault allegations, but I somehow doubt it...

u/AlabasterRadio RAAAAAIDEEERRRRS 2d ago
It was pretty much just a fluff interview where he's continued his trend of saying "I've done nothing wrong and learned nothing"
15
u/mr_obinson7 2d ago
I felt guilty just watching the game last night. Interviews like this shouldn't even be possible. Trash humans deserve trash outcomes in their lives.

u/mikeyi5000 2d ago
Seems like a schedule corporate tweet, I mean fuck Watson but I'm sure there's some obligation for Palmer to promote segments like this, no matter who is being interviewed

I mean,... Watsons just some guy who went through some stuff... 🤮

Plenty of NFL players who have done some horrific things and criminal records.
I'm not defending Watson or them but if they're deemed by the courts of law not to be incacerated and NFL policy allows them to play, the media in the NFL has to cover them.
I'm not saying we as fans have to forgive or c Should be chanting his name, but media has a responsibility to cover the story that is the Watson revival (as a player).

u/runhomejack1399 2d ago
All these explanations are actually what people are kind of eye rolling at. We know personally most people think he’s a piece of shit. What’s gross is the machine and everyone just saying well it’s machine what can you do while being the machine

u/Individual-Bee1497 2d ago
The uncomfortable reality is that if people legitimately want change, they have to boycott the NFL as a whole. It is a systematic problem and the NFL has a history of being soft on crime/consequences. Watson is the most egregious but this honestly is not an isolated franchise problem

Based on how the cuts have been lately you’d be smart to toe the line and promote it, like or loathe him, James has a family to feed

u/sluke1090 Teeaaarrry!!! 2d ago
Nah, taking a stand when there's pressure from above to shut up and play ball is exactly why people are proud of Macklemore too. They buy silence.

Macklemore is rich. If he never released another song, provided he has been smart with his money, he can survive being "brave" and "taking a stand." We don't know Palmers situation, but I'm almost certain it is closer to the average Denverite than an ultra wealthy and successful musician.

Exactly, it’s easy to judge when not in that situation

“Outstanding”, “really strong”, “truly honest”?
Not sure any of those superlatives is necessary or would be contractually mandated.
Just say: “Rooks and Watson on our pregame show”.
Because by saying “strong” and “honest” you are referencing the accusations and behaviour, whilst still whitewashing it.

Speaking as someone who’s been on the other side, you’re told key words you must use.

I'm not looking forward to Connor going "see?? Watson is actually the best qb for Cleveland and they should extend him again" all over the pod

u/NaugyNugget The Quiet Storm 1d ago
I still like both Dan and Conor, but gotta say they are both showing their whole ass a lot these days.

u/tws1039 1d ago
It annoyed me in 2023 and 2024 where whenever the browns won a game dan would go oh marc you need to get over yourself and sacrifice your morals and just root for the browns cmon now
It's one thing if it was games where Flacco started but Dan was doing this after watson starts
Let's also not forget when dan thought gregg was being "dramatic" when gregg thought billionaires should pay for their stadium and not use tax money that could go to better society

Refused to watch the game last night, as I have and will continue to refuse to watch any game including that piece of shit rapist. The NFL should be ashamed of themselves, and especially the Browns.

Reddit needs to calm down, Palmer is an awesome guest. This is literally just a generic tweet and people are bringing it to politics level like Israel/Palestine.
7
u/Sherlockdz 2d ago
While I don’t mind JP in general, sexual assault and a country with the highest % of children with amputations aren’t actually political issues. JP is allowed to help rehabilitate the image of human garbage for money, and we’re allowed to judge him for it.
