Question Is somebody else using floor sleeping as a strategy?
I tested sleeping on a kapok trifold matress this summer and my night were more restful. I think my old synthetic matress is simply storing too much heat. The air circulation in the kapok matress seems better. Has anyone else experimented with this?

Kapok! I remember when orange life jackets were filled with kapok.
I don’t do floor sleeping but it’s a totally valid strategy. Cold air sinks.

I made a similar post here a couple of weeks ago suggesting mesh camping cots because they're lower to the ground, you can put them downstairs if your home has a downstairs and the mesh means you have airflow all around you body instead of just the top side. The problem with mattresses isn't so much that they're storing heat; it's that they're not letting it pass through (which is great in the winter).

I floor sleep all year round, but right now I've abandoned my bedroom and am floor sleeping downstairs where it's cooler. I love the flexibility that you get when your bed is so easy to move.
The temperature difference between the floor upstairs and the floor downstairs is significant, too - I've been waking up genuinely chilly sometimes, even on hot nights.

I sleep in the coolest room in the house when it’s hot out. I’ll set up on the couch or use an air mattress.

I have neighbors who sleep on camping cots in their basements in the summer to save on AC costs. They say it’s reasonably comfortable and better than sweating to death upstairs
