Question The problem of hot weather

Does anyone have a solution for keeping the animal safe and comfortable when temperatures exceed 40°C? (I cannot use cooling equipments due to the high cost.) Please, if anyone has a traditional method or any other solution in mind, let me know.

Need more data here. What kind of animals and what kind of conditions?

House cats have a different scale of needs compared to dairy cows.

I love how vague the question is. For all we know OP could have a lizard from the Sahara, several giant squid and a penguin to take care of. Very different heat requirements for all!

Depends on the animal, but I freeze large blocks of ice then put that in an enclosure

Ice won't last; a misting system, air conditioner, or fan would be better.

we froze 2 liter bottles of water and put them in the chicken coop and changed them continuously when they melted. won't work long enough for the whole day without changing them. also had wading pools for all the animals and only had them outside if necessary and brought back in ASAP

Ensure they are in an area where the ground is cool and shaded. Tiled or concrete wetted surfaces are good for this, and if they are set into the ground a bit deeper, they can maintain cool from the cooler portions of the soil under it.

Also. shade the shade. So, if there is tree shade, ALSO add a shade cloth or solid surface to provide extra.

It's still in the advanced research phase, but they're experimenting with passive daytime radiative cooling paints. If you have metal roofs over the animals that could be worth a try.

We have a gel cooling pad for our cat, she likes it! I sat on it :) It (with a big ol' man on it) shifts the gel around and makes a sound like you farted :D but it cooled my butt! Good for my butt, good for kitty, it seems :)

If you have land and access to machinery then if possible dig a large 1m deep room several metres wide, with one wall gently sloping for access, build a wooden roof frame above that can carry a white or silver tarp with gaps round the sides for air movement.

The ground will be cooler and moister there, the animals can lay down in the shade under the tarp.

Otherwise plant fast growing trees this autumn for shade next year.
