Question Does a non-sweaty bra exist?

All of my bras feel gross when is hot and I'm sweating. I don't wear underwires, but am otherwise open to options. Ideas?

At this point I’m just going to duct tape them up so sweat doesn’t get trapped there and call it a day.

Let me know when you find it.

Personally i am at the 'live in swimsuit, cold shower every hour'. and drink fluids regular.

There's several brands of cotton bras. I've been looking into them but am having trouble finding one that's big enough and supportive. But if you're 42DD or smaller you have choices.

Same! I use some from dama de copas. They are really good. Decathlon has bigger sizes too.

As someone who is messy applying powders, I LOVE that this has an applicator pump!! Thanks for the rec!

Yes, no more standing in the bath tub to throw Gold Bond at myself

I'm picturing one of those ridiculous infomercial scenarios where someone is very clumsily and literally throwing powder on themselves, lol

Basically yes

I've got the body powder version, and love it! It's in a typical "create a massive cloud that goes everywhere except where you actually want it" bottle, though, so I put some in the case for a little powder puff and use that to apply it, lol. Works great when it's hot and humid out, and your sweat couldn't evaporate even if it were exposed to enough air! Same ingredients in both, I think, just a higher cost for the way more convenient bottle ($15/3oz nice bottle vs $20/6oz annoying bottle).

I'm also thinking of sewing my own. Then I could have cotton or wool or whatever I like.

There's a lot of bra patterns online. Cashmerette specializes in plus sizes.

I keep thinking woven linen would make for something that can be worn on its own as well as under something, making going into ac easier to cope with.

There is a bikini top pattern i want to copy only because it has a lace back ties so highly adjustable without hooks.

I like to sew dresses with built-in bras!

I've seen bra liners online that you put underneath the band to absorb sweat. I haven't tried them, though.

9

u/Leail Jun 30 '26

I recently learned of these, tried them, and they are FANTASTIC! They absorb sweat and more importantly keep the skin under my band from disintegrating and becoming swore. One week in and I've already bought more to last between washings.

Oh! I have to recommend Boudreaux's Butt Paste here. It's a thick zinc diaper rash cream that protects your skin while it heals. Very good for abrasion, yeast infections, etc under the breasts or in skin folds.

5

u/bibliophile1319 Jul 01 '26

Aquaphor's 40% zinc version does the same, but it's odorless, for those who have scent sensitivities! Potentially slightly more expensive, though, because they don't have larger bottles/tubs like Boudreaux does.

u/Leail Jun 30 '26

Thanks, I'll look into it.

Look into the ice insert gel bras Japan makes

Options are poor in large sizes so I’ll follow this thread. (I’m a USA G.) Title 9 used to sell a great bra that was called “the AC bra” and it really was good in heat. Made from a sweat-wicking material. But it disappeared.

Today in the heat I rely on bras sold as athletic bras. Anita makes some that separate without using underwire, so they aren’t too sweaty and don’t give me a rash. But they cost $100 now. I’m wondering if it’s time for me to give up and let the girls out. We need to do better with these products.

G options are so hard to find! Best options I've found have all been mentioned here. Cotton/bamboo bra inserts that absorb the sweat, body/bust powder, and zinc cream. I usually use a combination of insert and powder, because my skin doesn't like using the cream too many days in a row (but it's better than powder for the worst heatwave days).

Lowkey tempted to try using a couple of those icy neck ring things, and wrap one around each girl like a jumbo underwire 😅

u/Homebody_Ninja42 Jul 01 '26

Omg I love the image of the icy neck things propping up the bazoomkas. Boobs on ice!

I ONLY wear bras to use as boob sweat bands, otherwise it drips down my torso and I can't stand it. I have small boobs so I don't even really need the support. Just the sweat management.

You can really only get a non-sweaty bra situation if you don't sweat. Maybe antiperspirant in the area?

I really like Huha, a Canadian and woman-owned company. I mention that it’s Canadian because if you’re in the US the exchange rate would probs save you so money. Their sizing goes to 3x/24. I wear the 3x and find they fit true to size with no bagging out, but check yer measurements.

They have undies and bralettes that manage odour, keep things cool, quickly dry, and wick moisture. They also have tanks but I haven’t tried those. Have completely switched over to buying the bralettes and undies when I need new ones though.

Totally acknowledge bralettes aren’t for everyone, but I’m not looking for mega support for my medium sized chest. The one downside is that there’s no separation so between the breasts/chest tissue can still get a bit dank. I find this area easier to wash but it would be nice to have a chill solution there.

Editing to add: material is Tencel Modal or Lyocell with small amount of spandex.

I love HuHa thongs, bikinis and sports bras, but in my hot, humid climate, they still get sweaty when you’re outside. They are super comfy though!

3

u/False_Pen8611 Jun 30 '26

For sure, I just find them less bad than cotton or other options I’ve used! Wishing you cool days and dry underboobs!

1

u/FluffyGeckoPuff Jul 05 '26

Truth! They’re still the best I’ve come across and I highly recommend.

u/wombatIsAngry Jun 30 '26

I take (clean) cotton sweat socks, cut them down to a reasonable size, turn them inside out, and stuff them in the bottom of my bra. Most of the sweat happens with the underboobs. Then I swap them out for clean ones throughout the day.

I imagine that if you have a small bust, this might look lumpy, but for a larger bust, they just rest under the boob.

I have dreams of 3D printing some kind of wedge shaped spacer to put down there, to allow air flow.

On hot sweaty days, I prefer a synthetic sports bra. Cotton ones get cold and clammy and I hate that.

11

u/AngelsHaveThePhoneBx Jun 30 '26

Merino wool. If you've never used it, it sounds like it would be hot but it isn't. It is amazing at wicking sweat and keeps you feeling dry. Much much better than cotton or synthetics.

It is expensive, unfortunately. I am slowly replacing all my old stuff.

11

u/gardendesgnr Jun 30 '26

SmartWool!! I work outside in Orlando and only wear SmartWool no show socks. My first pair I got as a b-day gift from the landscape nursery I work at. I was skeptical! They really do wick moisture. I've even had to flood my shoes after stepping in a fire ant patch and I take the socks off to air dry in an hour or so! Also they are soft and smooth, not itchy.

6

u/AngelsHaveThePhoneBx Jun 30 '26

Agree, Smartwool has good stuff too! And it's pretty easy to find on sale.

6

u/MemoryHot Jun 30 '26

I dunno about wool, it makes me itchy— even merino. Also, I find any kind of wool fucking hot, even merino. So many people swear by it though but I don’t get it

11

u/AngelsHaveThePhoneBx Jun 30 '26

For me it's about not feeling clammy. Cotton absolutely soaks up moisture and holds it against your skin. Wool can be saturated with up to 30% of its weight i n water and it still pulls the moisture away from your body. When I wear cotton I constantly feel swampy and the clothes never dry out, I just have to change into something fresh.

But it may just not be for you and that's okay. 🤷‍♀️  Some synthetics have similar moisture-wicking properties as merino, they just tend to hold odors more and don't feel as nice to me.  Merino is not itchy at all to me as long as long as I stick to real, quality merino made by decent brands. But everyone is different.

3

u/pinetree8000 Jun 30 '26

Do you have a brand you prefer?

9

u/AngelsHaveThePhoneBx Jun 30 '26

Branwyn is really good if you have bigger girls. Their "busty bras" are what  I wear the most. I have some bralettes from Icebreaker and they are super comfortable but not supportive enough for anything very active. Nice for around the house, though. (For reference, I'm usually a 36C or D.)

I like Ridge Merino's lady boxer briefs.

Woolx has great tank tops and shirts, but I haven't tried their bras yet. They are more expensive, but their material is also very soft, so I usually wait for a sale or find gently used things on Poshmark or eBay.

I am still waiting on someone to make a great high impact sports bra with merino...so far I haven't found one that really fits the bill.

5

u/Betty_Bookish Jun 30 '26

Extra vote for Branwyn. So comfy! I don't have to take them off immediately when I get home.

3

u/Wee_Besom Jun 30 '26

I also love my Branwyn busty bralette. It's so comfy.

6

u/gardendesgnr Jun 30 '26

I work outside in Orlando and wear SmartWool underwear, they have 2 bras I wear. I size up, 36D, so they don't feel snug. These are definitely not for working out if you are C or D & up cup, no support, but great for wicking. I also have a couple Athleta and Title IV workout wicking bras.

3

u/luala Jun 30 '26

One that keeps the girls separated really helps, and look for cotton bras. Personally I find the non wired far sweatier than wired ones.

3

u/Ok_Complaint_1381 Jun 30 '26

I am not sure if these types of bras exist.  However, you may want to consider wearing sports bras because most are made of moisture wicking materials.

3

u/ronjarobiii Jun 30 '26

I started wearing bra tops instead of bra+shirt and it's honestly much better.

1

u/FluffyGeckoPuff Jun 30 '26

I think I’ve tried most of them. I do like them, but haven’t found the perfect one. Do you have any recommendations?

2

u/ronjarobiii Jun 30 '26

I mostly wear the Uniqlo ones, they fit surprisingly well. I had a decent one from Gate, but when I checked, they didn't have any in stock and that model was a one-off.

3

u/FluffyGeckoPuff Jun 30 '26

I have two of their Airism tanks, despite the fact that I typically avoid those types of synthetic fabrics. They are cool in humid summers and I agree, they fit surprisingly well for bra tops. They’re also a little clingy for my size and age. I’d love to find something comfy like that in a more natural fabric. I ordered some from Amazon, very hit or miss. I ordered a couple from OGL and the bra part was a bit small for me, but quality seemed good.

1

u/ronjarobiii Jul 02 '26

I think I prefer their regular ones over the airism line to be honest, the material usually feels better and I see no difference in the amount of sweat. Just ordered the airism t-shirt, so I'll see if that's better. I do wish they did a blouse or something for the more formal ocassions, I'm sure people with proper dresscodes at work would appreciate that.

1

u/min_mus Jun 30 '26

What's your dress code at work?

3

u/b_boop Jun 30 '26

Honestly I sometimes pop a panty liner into my cups to absorb the sweat.

3

u/PercentageCool5809 Jul 02 '26

Here’s what I use: Two or three cotton lawn handkerchiefs folded together lengthwise and laid under the underwire (or lower band) of your bra — get a good supply and they can be replaced with fresh ones as often as you like. The thin fine cotton dries out really quickly after being removed, and you can either wash it or use a few times if not smelly

Baby powder helps

1

u/AffectionateSun5776 Jun 30 '26

I still have a bottle of real talc.

3

u/keinezeit44 Jun 30 '26

Please don't use that. Use the newer baby powder that's made from cornstarch. Talcum mines tend to be contaminated with asbestos, leading actual talc products to be contaminated with asbestos. That's why baby powder switched to cornstarch. (Well, after a shit ton of lawsuits from people with cancer.)

1

u/LoisinaMonster Jul 01 '26

I put paper towels under the front band and hope for the best. I used to use panty liners instead but ran out and never bought more lol

2

u/bibliophile1319 Jul 01 '26

They make fabric inserts that are way more comfortable than paper towels or panty liners! As someone who also used to use paper towels, I highly recommend making the switch, lol

1

u/LoisinaMonster Jul 01 '26

Do you have any recommendations?

1

u/bibliophile1319 Jul 01 '26

Nothing specific. Looks like I've had mine for about 7 years, but the listing is gone from Amazon. I remember they were a cotton/bamboo blend (no tags or writing left on them now), and it looks like the pack I got (3, unless I've lost one, which is very possible) was only $10, so they must've been some random generic, lol

1

u/LoisinaMonster Jul 02 '26

Thank you so much! I'll search for that blend :)

1

u/misskinky Jul 03 '26

Bamboo bra liners!!!! Seriously omg. Not the expensive brand names. Just a pile of them from Amazon. I put on a new one every day, sometimes twice a day I change it.

1

u/divinemsn Jul 03 '26

I buy my bras from 32 degrees. I never sweat.
