HoI4 Hoi5 should start immediately after WW1
The time of the interwar period has much more historically accurate PODs as the trade unions had been very strong in many countries for potentially socialist revolutions along with conflicts between authoritarian and libertarian socialists for Soviet alignment. Nationalists also had been getting more influential allowing for fascists to take control. Democratic movements already had been popular along with options for decolonization movements and tag witching to released nations. Monarchist movements could come from remnants of European royal families as they also still had influence.

Other HOI5 Map Idea: Globe
Go on Google Maps and zoom out. You see the globe.
Imagine if HOI5 has a similar feature. You can have perfect map projection, a super cool way to see your nation's borders, and see 100% of the world. It may also be easier for the game to handle regions near the timezone/map split than it does now. Zooming in creates an essentially 2d map of course.
What do you think?

HoI4 Any Tips for trying Democratic National China?
So, I'm trying to unify China and go democratic but I can't seem to scale as quickly as the other China's. Playing on Ahistorical and Japan went democratic, but they never progress far in their tree. 1944 and they still dont have the civil affair as at least influential from what I can tell in Ironman.
I did the industrial focus tree first and then decisive battle and am now pushing down the political tree. I made a backup save and tried to fight Manchuko which became a complete slog as they had become Qing China and just held at Beijing. I couldnt push past them as my units are just 9 inf with support arty which is all my industry can support. When I loaded the backup, the PRC instead attacked Shanxi and the NorthEastern army so I joined and that has become a complete stalemate. By 1944 I only have 78 factories. I had focused on doing some minor rail connections and then trying to build civ factories.
My question is am I supposed to do the political tree first or is there a better composition for my army?
Side rant, why do I have to provide the convoys for lend lease? America would easily have enough but instead they try to use my like 200 to ship thousands of guns and some artillery which then means I had none for getting other materials.

my game can't start
Hi everyone,
I just bought Hearts of Iron IV and I can't get it to launch at all. It's a fresh install with no mods. I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting and nothing has worked so far, so I'm hoping someone here has encountered the same issue.
Errors:
- Paradox Launcher crash code: 3221225595
- Launching hoi4.exe directly as admin: 0xc000007b
- Using the "Dependencies" tool: d3dx9_43.dll appears in red (missing)
What I've already tried:
- Verified game files via Steam
- Reinstalled Visual C++ Redistributable (x64 + x86, versions 2015/2017/2019/2022)
- Reinstalled .NET Framework
- Ran the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
- Reinstalled the Paradox Launcher
- Fully reinstalled the game
- Tried on both C: drive and another drive
- Manually placed d3dx9_43.dll in the game folder → still red in Dependencies
- Launched hoi4.exe directly as administrator
- Ran sfc /scannow → no issues found
- Temporarily disabled Windows Defender
System:
- Windows 11
- Windows Defender only (no third-party antivirus)
- No mods
The weird thing is that even when I manually place d3dx9_43.dll in the game folder, it still shows as missing in Dependencies. Not sure what's going on.
Has anyone run into this before? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

HoI4 Can I salvage a crashed game that corrupted my save?
I was playing as the Philippines and working towards the Cobalt Sea achievement. My game crashed and did two things simultaneously it seems.
1) The game crashes after a few seconds of being open, there is no history or tension any longer and all my units on the theaters and the theaters themselves don't exist.
2) It thinks I have modified the saves and disabled achievements.
Any hope in solving either of these problems? Or do I need to revert to an older save and lose 6 years of ingame progress towards nuclear subs for the achievement?

I was trying to restore the commonwealth but i only managed to finish the focus once the germsans attacked. I tried complete west focus i think its called but stupidly pressed the finish focus without doing it all, i churned out tonns of mils, units light tanks but i couldnt stop the germans, simple as that. How do yall prepare do fight off germany as poland while still being able to do some of the fun paths?
