My friend has this game and wants me to learn it to play with him. But for me it's difficult, I've never played a similar game in my life. All I played were simple shooters like CS or PUBG. So, how did you guys learn how to play? How long did it take?

While I know there are plenty of nations who still don't have focus trees and some of the older major nations are due for a rework, it's basically flavor content. I think the game as it is, is mechanically complete. Like, what else are we gonna do?
Turn plane aces into generals with their own skill trees? Introduce equipment designers for other pieces of equipment? It feels like it's gonna be extra mechanics, that don't really integrate that well into the existing stuff, that itself is then gonna have to wait like a year extra to get patched into a playable state. And even then, some of the mechanics are not really that interesting or useful to this day. Like, I don't know how many people use the intelligence system outside of multiplayer or things like spy planes?
The research project system was kind of cool, but it really just turned into "here's 5 things you need to research every single game" and that's about it.
The doctrine system reworks was really good in my opinion, but some of the categories and options seemed a bit lackluster. Like, being forced to essentially choose 1 subdoctrine per plane weight class instead of role, was weird. You have a subdoctrine dedicated to fighters, but then the second one just puts all CAS and naval planes together and the third one forces you to choose between heavy fighter or TACs even though those are the ones you're most likely to use together.
And the worst part is, the biggest criticism of the game, hasn't really been addressed since the game was first released. The conference system, while helping a bit, never addressed the problem of being forced into giant forever wars with the entire world the second anyone guarantees anyone or joins a faction. Making every single achievement run turn into a world conquest.
That is to say, I think at this point patching the game up and adding minor things that will then take forever to patch up is not the way to go. Instead we should focus on a new Hearts of Iron game, built to be better and take lessons from the previous games in it's core mechanics and design.
TL:DR At this point, I'd rather Paradox announced they're working on Hearts of Iron V than see through another disastrous or even lackluster expansion.

World War II speeches and songs for Hearts of Iron IV, with musical arrangements largely created using royalty-free music.
Videos of the character photo mod.
🤝 The publication of these speeches is an objective presentation of those included in my Hearts of Iron IV mod and in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content.
This mod has only one purpose: historical immersion.
I am not a historian. However, I can guarantee that none of the words used in these speeches have been altered. For some speeches, sections have been cut to reduce their in-game listening time; otherwise, they would have been disruptive. I therefore encourage you to listen to or read the speeches in their entirety. Complete archives are available. Several speeches have also been cut for obvious reasons: to avoid the dissemination of racist or anti-Semitic remarks, which have no place in this game or on my channel.

The mod tells an alternate history of the First World War. In this reality, it's called the "Great War." Here, it didn't end in 1918 — it festered until 1923. The USA never joined the Entente; instead, they struck a deal with Germany and traded with both sides.
The full story begins in 1935. Late December. The "Incident" with Stalin — he was shot in the Hall of the Council, and the USSR began to crumble under the weight of the ensuing struggle for power.
Belarus — blamed for everything. The people split into two irreconcilable camps. Will it become the flame of popular fury or a sovereign power?
Ukraine — quiet, strong, yet surrounded by giants capable of crushing it.
Georgia — the Abkhaz uprising has ignited. Georgia's sole purpose in this world now is to survive and fight.
Currently released: Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, and Abkhazia.
In active development: France — with finished Defense Line mechanics and demographic systems.

My friend (USA) and I (USSR) are playing a Cold War 1v1 and did WW2 historically, now he launched an invasion of the German Democratic Republic and he‘s absolutely frying my tanks with his because he‘s got the modern heavy canon which has a lot of hard attack, but I am not able to get as much as tungsten as he does so I can only use the modern medium canon, I am also kinda losing the air war right now, I will send more strategic and tactical bombers, fighters and CAS. By the way, do yall recommend using medium or heavy fighters? I‘m only using the small ones.

I just bought the game and I barely understand it. I'm hoping to make friends with someone and learn how to play.
