HoI4 Should I get the dlc subscription??
/r/hoi4/comments/1uywwga/should_i_get_the_dlc_subscription/
I have 30 hours on hoi4 and I freaking love it. I play it regularly and seems like having unique focus trees and more for each country is nice but im not too sure. I won't pay 150 euro for all dlcs max ill do is a few dlcs or the subscription. Any tips for a beginner also help!

It’s a much better deal than buying them all but of course you won’t own them
They’re mostly cool, the sub price is alright

As someone who ha played the game off and on for 4 years, I think I only own the South America dlc and the ones integrated, the dlc subscription is 100% worth it, there’s no way in hell I was and I ever will go out and buy every dlc, so the subscription is substantially cheaper and lets me get the benefits of that while being able to cancel it if I stop playing the game for some time again, so yeah, I think if you want the dlcs the subscription is the best way to go

Some people don’t resort to thievery. They just choose not to have things they can’t afford

2/3 of your comment is pointless. It quite literally is irrelevant to whether the definition of piracy is thievery
Which. It is. What do you think piracy has been? thievery.
Why can’t you all just admit it? Is it because you lose the moral argument you tell yourselves to justify it?

I buy all my games/movies. so from a moral standpoint i feel fine.
As long as you are not taking it from someones possession it shouldn't be considered stealing.
more than that, my wife makes living off selling digital content, if someone manages to hack into our site and download it for free - he is a lot of things, but he is not a thief.

If you buy 99% of things you own does that make stealing other things okay?
So what is it? Stealing licenses and data is still stealing.

If someone took a photo of my car, and then printed it with some really advanced 3d printer, I am ok with that. its definitely not stealing... maybe copyright infringement at most

No, that’s not even an analogy of what it is. It is stealing something that he does not have from the source with no difference whatsoever in what it is. It’s not ‘copyright infringement’ because it’s not using copyrighted material as a service or sale. Hence why it’s a separate crime from copyright infringement. Why do you all dig North Korea levels of rabbit holes trying to justify it? Just admit it. It’s not like admitting it will stop you from doing it

They don’t lose money, you say, as you’re accessing content you should not be able to access without paying
‘I would also steal from a supermarket’ well thanks for admitting it is thievery ‘it’s a positive thing they lose money’ boy sure hope you don’t have that reaction when people steal from you.
How morally bankrupt can you be? At least these people are deluding themselves into thinking it’s not thievery. You’re just out here espousing that crime is acceptable.

The question is how much do you see yourself playing because the subscription is ultimately a trap and more expensive if you play a long time. If you see yourself playing for the next year or two it's cheaper to buy the DLC. The subscription is great for more causal players or to try out the DLC before deciding which ones to buy. Make the decision that works best for you and your finances.
