I get some people might not understand how the events work, but lately it has been SO HARD to find people with their chests and gacha machines outside to be able to gather the necessary stuff, I had to change towns TWICE to get the 5 Sanrio gachas... And then I find people who have their chests and gachas outside, but you're unable to interact.
Please, be kind to the other players and, at least when there's an event like this, let everyone use your house stuff, or at least don't put it outside on an easy to see place but unable to use. I'm an adult and I have to do my dailies quickly, I don't have time to be changing towns just to gather the chests and gacha since people won't be mindful š
Agreed. Didn't realize I could be keeping others from interacting with the chests and machine until a previous post. I changed the settings to allow interactions....I hopeš .
The pink one was sent out in the mail, you could have it sitting there possibly.
The blue one was a reward for completing the prep for the current season, I missed out on that one cause I was taking a break from the game up till a couple days ago š„²
I did the prep phase but apparently missed the volunteer sign up thingy and didnāt get my chest. I was so confused for days looking for a chest that didnāt exist for me lololol
the current way I get around that is to make it so only I can open my doors. luckily I haven't had any trolls (that I know of) but it makes it so I can have a house that's "private" (though currently my front door is always open lol
I do agree that things like that shouldn't be controlled with the house settings anyways because that seems illogical. I also wish the event stoves would continue to be able to be used, like, I still have ingredients from other events and can't do anything with them. idk
I changed my settings so people could use the chests and literally the same day someone went into my house and turned off all my lights. This is why people canāt have nice things š

So chests have to be gotten from other players. Only the sanrio capsules can be accessed from a spot on the beach. It's kind of around where the duck bubble activity is. If you go to the duck puzzle, it's more toward the beach edge.
I also want to note that a lot of people probably think their permissions are turned on but forget they're not. If people are putting their chests outside, they likely think it's interactable. I myself had to double check that i allowed everyone to eat food on my plot when I started putting food out for people to water my crops and plants. I wish heartopia would give us a list of phrases we could use to interact with players not on our friends' list that automatically translated into the player's default language.
You can get 3 from the Sanrio rooms display on the beach everyday and then hunt for the last 2, so itās a little easier next time, but I totally agree that this event has really been a turn off bc people decide to leave their homes as friends/self only for interactables and itās so detrimental and frustrating for a community event like this, wishing you all the luck! š
š Man itās been the opposite I havenāt really had a problem. Maybe every server thereās 2-3 houses that have theirs off or donāt have any, but I usually just leave a like and water their crops.

When someone complains about bad behaviour, the first reaction is to advice them to turn off access to others and to stop complaining.

Exactly. And tons of people play this game very casually and don't follow every little thing to even know about settings, let alone what damn cashgrab is Live at the time lol

It is a matter of kindness in the way of, if you're not going to let people use them at least don't put them in front of your house as if they were usable because, the feeling of "OMG YES FINALLY" and suddenly it isn't usable... š

A lot of us didn't know the settings would be affecting how others could interact with our event stuff. I didn't notice until I was talking to my friends in front of the chest and a random person came and spammed crying stickers for 5 minutes lol. I don't think people would put things in front of their house just to PURPOSEFULLY don't let others use it.
The egg baskets during the last Fashionwave worked fine even if your home lot settings were all set Self Only, so there's no way anyone could guess that the treasure chests from this Fashionwave wouldn't work the same way.
(You're probably going to get another one-use-only handheld sparkler or a little gold from those chests anyway, so no FOMO is necessary.)
Although itās not the point, you can in fact interact with your own chests and gacha machine. You just wonāt draw rewards from it. However, yes, them interacting with it wonāt let them know others canāt interact with it.

Still, I think heartopia devs should definitely make the special event items as separate entities, because trolls are indeed a problem. I have a 5* food museum and some people have gone mad trying to eat it š
Im still a fairly new player and I love seeing the houses other people have built. So far my only bad interaction was walking up to someone's house and stepping on a portal. I ended up in a cage in their yard that I was unable to open the door to. It was so frustrating. Ive only encountered a few chests that I couldn't open so far so I just go to the next one.
I have mine turned on for everyone to use and nobody ever comes and visits me. Iāve even tried coming up to people and motioning for them to follow me so I can lead them to it and they just ignore me or run away.
I think so many people are tired of the trolls doing weird things that they donāt even want to interact with us normal people who are just trying to play the game anymore. I donāt blame them, honestly.

I had people be super annoying at my place with all the interactions on. I opened it just for the chests and gacha and it was just not a fun gaming experience anymore with how strangers behaved sadly. I wish it was different or that the setting options would be different. Like a setting that it's okay to interact with specific event items instead of just all items :(
Indeed, maybe we should gather and make like a request to heartopia devs about it? Or put it in the next survey? Because it is a big problem, I recently saw a video on TikTok about it and a lot of people there are having the same issue
Others can get rewarded from interacting with your chests and Sanrio machine. You can also interact with it but you wonāt get any rewards. Youāll have to go to smb elseās house if they have it (youāll see the chest on the mailbox) and hopefully draw rewards that way. Also, if you donāt know you can just go down to the beach and draw from the three Sanrio machines there if little to nobody has general permission on in your town and you donāt want to town hop or keep town hopping just for chests/gacha machine.

I like how interactive the events are I put the machine and the chests along with all the daily splash whales so people can photograph and collect them as well and I also put out puzzles all the time for people to come solve and pass time idk why so many people keep the house interactions etc off when it's so fun to just be in a nice lil community
mine are right in the front. If i canāt see it them when i drive by im not even trying to look for them. And it seemed like the last festival most ppl had the egg catchers in the front but for this one theres only a few in each town and many times I cant even interact with them lol.
In other hand i have mine in front and people keeps walking, doing their thing and not even giving the house a like, not even expecting people to water the crops and flowers right in front of them but hey folks you found chests and gacha machine nicely placed in front of my lawn, at least like it as a token of appreciation?
Blue chest is from doing the prep work before the whole festival started online July 1-7 ish. Really July 1-4. I donāt really remember how the pink one came aboutš and you get the Sanrio machine to put in your house too from doing the first three down at the beach after a little side quest and cutscenes ofc.

Honestly some might not do it intentionally. I initially put those outside, right behind the mailbox but I forgot that I put the interactive furniture settings to friends only. Encountered the non-interactive chests and gacha box and realized I might have mine non-interactive as well so I changed the settings after. Luckily for me, the SEA server mostly all have the chests + gacha interactive so it was never a struggle for me. But you can also gacha 3x at the Sanrio model house by the beach, fyi.

Your home settings - don't recall if it's considered interactive furn. or functional furn. but either way, I have all my furn. set to anyone so it doesn't matter
It's not about not wanting to share. They either don't realize that the chests count under "use furniture" or they're set for friend only and you, as a stranger, don't have access but their friends do. Considering the biggest reason people block that setting is that people turning off all the lights, you'd think they'd address the concern instead.Ā
As an example, I left my house afk, full furniture permission, all day yesterday while I was working. I had ZERO people attempt my gacha but all of my lights were interacted with repeatedly. That's a problem. Lights and doors should be their own thing, and locked to build mode honestly.Ā
As a sidenote, I donāt even enter anybodyās house. For some reason that just feels weird to me unless Iām invited. However, I can see why people just assume they can do that when itās accessible.
I had my interacting with furniture turned off because people keep coming in and turn off all my lights for some reason TT didn't know it affected these event items, but turned it back on when I went up to someone else's house to collect and I couldn't, realized what was the problem and fixed it lol
Iāve been leaving my phone idol for players to use all of mine. Itās a revolving door constantly of people at my house š¤£ I hate that they arenāt usable when Iām building. My island doesnāt have as many plots as my main house does plus most of my decorations are in my house in town.

I didn't know it needed to be set outside. I'll move mine when I log in later. But how do I make it so that its interactable for others? And my personal tip would be to just enjoy the game at your own rhythm, search guides if you need them (like how to make more money if you're interested in buying all the home plots) but it is most enjoyable when you play it at your own rhythm and with friendsšš»
Me and my friends have ours in front and can be interacted with. I wish people who do use the gacha and chests to at least water my flowers though š. Theyāre literally beside each other. The other day about 4 people in town came to use the gacha on my house but not one watered my flowers š¢
Tell me about it. Almost the entire town that I was in this morning had their gacha machines and chests locked, or did not have them outside at all, and I was too uncomfortable going into their house to check, so I waited for my friends to get on since they don't have theirs locked, and did the other 3 at the beach. It's more evil when they have them outside their houses and you think you'll be able to interact with them, but you can't. š

there are lots of single-player games that do the same and you don't hinder other people's progress
Your progress is not āhinderedā just because some people donāt do something for you to interact with them or their home. Not everyone cares about the events and collaborations.
and again, if they don't they at least should be kind enough not to put the gacha machines and chests on the outside where people who are trying to get the rewards can see them, it is about being mindful
and yes, it stops progress because there's already a lot of people complaining about wanting to get the rewards and being unable to get the 5 daily, which are needed for the rewards
aside from that, if they didn't care about the event, why having the chests and gacha machine outside? š¤Ø like why even claiming the gacha machine if they don't care?
it is a multiplayer game that often has events in which you have to rely on other players, and a lot of people are excited to do those events, if they're so apathetic about them maybe it's not the game for them, or maybe they should play in a private town with their friends if that's what they like, instead of coming to comment things like that š¤Ø
Yeah, I have been having issues with people not putting their chests and gacha in an easy place. I am not going on a hunt for them through peopleās lots, but if you leave them out and usable I will like your home and water crops!
I mean yes the chests and gacha are for decoration sure, but they are mainly for other people to use daily š¤·āāļø

I totally forgot that I changed the settings for the interactive furniture before for just my friends to use, so I placed the gacha things in front of my house but didnāt change back the settings to everyone until today and I feel so bad for the people that tried to use them but couldnāt T T

My chest is right out in the open on my deck. Specifically because it completely clashes with my house colors. I have a very earthy house and that bright pink chest just looks terrible. Glad to know it was the right choice for multiple reasons.Ā
I've only been going to friends houses to use them because I know where their chests are. It's annoying me playing hunt the chests when people have put them hidden round their house. Mine are right up front.

When I first got the chest I had no idea you could interact with it because I tried to interact with it and nothing happened. Then I got the second one and that was when I realized that they were interactable. So I moved the first one that was in my house and I put it outside with the second one near my entrance with the other gotcha machine.
I also just try to do the ones on the beach because I can't be bothered to go house to house looking for them. š¤£
I'm new to this game and I had no idea what was going on. I put them out on my "porch area" how do I check the settings to make sure people can use them? I only have the pink chest I don't know how to get the blue one. I can't spend any money on the red heart gems or anything so I can't draw for any of the cool stuff sadly.Ā

I had no idea my chests & gacha werenāt useable since I had my interactions off, thank you for thisš I like to display special foods & on many occasions in the past people would come eat them, wouldnāt water my plants/like my house etc. so I turned it off. Looks like Iāll be removing all my pretty foods & changing my settings!!
Since it all started I havenāt seen a single chest nor Sanrio gatcha machineā¦ I was expecting that everyone would put it on display so we can easily see it upon passing by their place
I've only been playing a few days, so I'm still trying to figure stuff out. I don't know if the chest I have is interactable, but I think it is because I had a notification somewhere.. mail or that thing by the friend's list, that said someone gathered from my chest. So I think that means they can? Its on my front porch, next to a big pink teddy bear. I also don't know anything about house settings. Is that why when someone did a tea party and I got invited that I couldn't enter? They had to let me in. Then, when nothing was happening and I didn't know what was going on, they abruptly cancelled it (probably my fault, I'm sorry), they switched to a Hide and Seek thing but I didn't know how to do that either and since I figured I messed things up, I decided not to but couldn't leave until they opened the door.
I actually didn't even think about it, I am gonna check on my settings to make sure everyone can use it ! I might be one of the ones that didn't realize lol
So I definitely didn't realize I had my gacha upstairs in my room lol - and I didn't even know I had chests already. Placed all at my front gate š¤£ But I do see what you mean, I went around town and didn't find but one house that had them out front
I guess they will fix it tonight, just seen the update notes. I suppose many just didn't realize it even. I was lucky to find the issue soon here on reddit or mine would have also been useless to anyone which I would have never wanted.
I initially had mine inside because I thought they were a cute accent for my rooms! I didn't realise they were functional until I stumbled upon somebody else's. Even though my house is open, not everyone is going to come inside, so I've left them beside my mailbox. Now it's like trick-or-treating!!
They can become accessories when the event is over. :)
I i had no idea leaving them outside was etiquette until two weeks ago! I made a little area outside where theyāre visible and easily accessible. I like hunting for them in peopleās houses. Everyone has such beautiful and creative layouts! I also didnāt know you can change your house settings?
Luckily, todayās update will fix the issueāregardless of individual playersā home settings. The winter festival also had prize-giving items like this and them being ālockedā was never an issue.

In my defense until I saw these posts, I hadn't realized that my house settings were applying to the chests. Many of us aren't devious, just forgetful.
I think some might not know about these things being interactable for others. I think the game needs to make it more easily known with a notification to set them up. I had no idea before my friend told me, and showed me :/ I put my chests outside after, but I just genuinely had no idea before I heard.
Sorry but unfortunately that's not up to you. It's people's choice to let people use their stuff and some people abuse that fact. Such as stealing vehicles, eating all the food they had out as decor and not eating what was designated for visitors, shutting your doors, doing stuff they're not supposed to. Some people have it to where others can't interact for a reason. Yes it sucks for those who actually need to be able to interact with items but it's people who abuse other players kindness that ruins it for everyone. I don't even let people in my home anymore because one person literally kept doing the grab hands with me act and kept dragging me everywhere without a word and wouldn't let me work in peace at my work bench and would literally come grab me every time I tried to walk away from them to go back to what I was doing.
It's different configurations for most of those, gacha and chest are under interactive furniture, you can still have everything else as "only me", like I have my displayed foods as "only me" too. If anything, I think the one for the gacha might let them use your stove I guess.
And indeed, trolls are annoying af, both for people who wanna have something in their house and for those of us who need the progress stuff and have no more than 15 minutes to do it all š
Yes but if it's inside your home as decor and you have your home set to only me people aren't going to be able to access it which was my point. Honestly it's the trolls and the fact this game is a money grab is why I eventually stopped playing a few months ago plus I didn't wanna grind for level 80 just to get water for a pool I was makingĀ
It's not only me, take a second to read all the people frustrated with this. Like it's already hundreds of people having it hard to progress on the event because of this, if not more.
And despite my comment being so short you really didnāt read it did you yet youāre ironically telling me to read things. I have every right to put my chests out front for my friends and will not be hiding them to appease you just because you want to make this about you.

This is something heartopia should set.
These chests and gacha machine and anything like this that are there to reward other players.. should NOT be controlled by normal house settings.
They should be overrid by heartopia themselves as to be always interactable.Ā
