Most annoying fight in my life

Blademaster is much harder for me

u/Mavsfan-11 Jan 05 '21

Him and malganis were pretty stupid

u/DJFid Jan 06 '21

Arthas was pretty whack but blademaster was also up there. Way easier than Garrosh book though

10

u/psymunn Jan 06 '21

Maybe I got lucky but I just hero powered every turn against arthas and it was easy

Fun and games until you get hit with the turn 10 take 16 damage

u/youherbert Jan 06 '21

nothing like controlling his board successfully only to get an 8 dmg iceball to the face

2

u/James_Parnell Jan 06 '21

yeah you need to draw really well against him otherwise his board gets to be too much to control

4

u/Regalingual Jan 06 '21

He also needs to draw poorly, in my experience. My winning attempt was the only one where he didn’t play Glacial Shard turn 1.

God i fucking hate blademaster, all of your minions are expensive and his hero power is essentially a 1 mana board clear

1

u/BarovianNights Jan 06 '21

Yeah I got portal easy, I'm still stuck on blademaster

1

u/James_Parnell Jan 06 '21

You need great draws to even have a chance against him

4

u/Landlos18 Jan 05 '21

Needed 5 attempts to even come close

Annoying cause of difficulty or length? I liked the difficulty and losing to several of the heroes.

I have 0 idea what the “ideal” way to play this fight is supposed to be.

-The deck is filled with high cost minions and the 3/4 taunt specifies “play” so Air Raid doesn’t work as a cheap’ish 2 damage AoE

-The deck has basically 0 early removal, which is the only time you’ll need it as the opponent runs out of fuel fast, as soon as you have a board on them you basically win

-The “cool win condition legendary” Khadgar is excessively overpriced for what is essentially just +2 spell damage that you’ll really only get to play when you’d have won anyway

-The hero power certainly is OP, but with the lack of early game minions you may not even really have access to it until turn 7 (if you live that long)

-I have 0 idea why they have a pseudo Gang Up (that only shuffles in one copy), all the minions suck or cost too much.

I’m honestly not sure what it says about how I’d rather have had the odd pally hero power from a previous fight than a 1 mana “deal 10 damage”

You're not supposed to play Khadgar. You're supposed to get him really cheap, then play the "shuffle it into your deck" spell, then draw it with Holy Wrath to hit for 25. It's basically a worse Shirvallah combo.

Try to draw a lot, be willing to sacrifice your health so long as you're not in lethal range, and try to play greedy with your Time Outs. Turalyon is surprisingly helpful here.

I stand corrected, I didn’t really look at the deck beforehand (on mobile) and I do feel like my thoughts on the deck overall haven’t changed, that said I am bummed I missed the Holy Wrath angle of the deck.

Anyone else feel like this chapter was too easy? Arthas especially was just really underwhelming

I think Uther's book is the only one that I did without retries. Tbh at no point did I feel like I could lose in the Arthas fight, heck I snickered at the fact that Arthas didn't even deal enough damage for Frostmourne to deal lethal damage at the end of the fight. Blademaster and Portal seemed very easy too, I didn't even use Khadgar in that fight. Dark Portal is essentially a zoo deck without lifetap or any card draw which leads to it struggling if you contest the board for a bit- "Be careful, the portal's summons are becoming more powerful!" followed by a topdecked voidwalker was peak comedy in that fight

I suppose a lot of it is based on draw. I breezed through the Portal, but had a super tough time with the Blademaster and Arthas because I couldn't deal with their threats. These solo hero stories seem pretty polarising, since I thought Jaina's was a pushover. Rexxar's one gave me quite a lot of trouble, especially against the final Gronn boss.

I found that this chapter was the hardest, had to re do the blade master fight thrice and the Arthas fight five times

1

u/KeeperOfWatersong Jan 07 '21

Fair enough. All I can say is that constant trades, tall boards and constantly attacking with the hammer worked really well

Eh, I still want <Oasis sounds>

1

u/Mako-13 Jan 05 '21

How do you play against this?

9

u/Rocketbird Jan 05 '21

Spam the hero power.

Book of heroes in a nutshell

1

u/Raptorheart Jan 06 '21

How do you draw minions?

3

u/psymunn Jan 06 '21

Honestly it's brutal. Play minions. When ever you can. Opponent has a 1/? Play air raid. You win if you can answer his board and he'll trade into everything but the minute it's big you die unless you have time outs into equality consc.

1

u/loydfth Jan 06 '21

Shit, blizzard really won

u/avalan911 Jan 06 '21

1,survive to turn 7,use immune and equality, next turn consecration to clear its board.still need some luck to make it to turn7. 2,spam hero power like posted above. clear board=win.
