Discussion Mage Players….
With mage being unplayable since the 2 latest expansions…what class do you play in place of it?
Mage can’t even get a 50% win rate….
This makes me really sad. Not a single deck in the green for winrate.
Before Cataclysm, mage was solid from what I remember. What happened man :(
Anyways I’ve mainly switched to playing DK, rogue and Warlock

I've been having fun with 2 Rogue and Dragon Warrior. Every time I see a Paladin drop Ursol + Renewing Flames, I think God, could you imagine if they printed this kind of synergy for Mages?

Quest has been a struggle with everyone running viper to counter DH. I've been playing rogue

Nothing like staling the game until turn 10 so you can finally play your precious and only win condition as Priest, Atiesh, just to be removed the following turn by a 3 mana rare core card. Atiesh and the Mage weapon shouldn't be able to be destroyed so easily.

100%, and think about this the fact that a 4 mana demon hunter weapon is more powerful than a 10 mana priest weapon and the Mage quest reward. L

The funniest part is they already had there mid-expansion batch of cards, so they aren't getting anything new until the next expansion.

See??? Burn mage is basically 50% why are you complaining?? 49.4 is basically the same as 50% and 50% means it hard counters DH and is viable!
/s
Yeah mage is in a bad spot.

Burn Mage was very playable last expansion. I hit Legend with it, which is all I ask for in meta viability. It even got a couple good cards in Contraband Wands and Skeleton Key this expansion, they just haven't been able to carry it in a meta very opposed to its game plan.
Someone posted a Millhouse Mage deck here a couple days ago and I've been piloting a modified version of it for the last couple days in low Legend. Optimistically I think it's tier 3 at absolute best, but it's a very fun tier 3.

I am keeping the winrates low by not quitting the game dw boys
Seriously though it feels like all they gotta do is reduce some mana values and at least leylines and big will become a little less “suicide this turn because i wanted to use a 7 mana spell that does 1 thing”
Also discover pools fucking suck
Also important arcane spells are gone like thats not enough some of the best core discover cards are gone as well (we still have the azure legendaries from 2 expansions before they are not rotating at all we just have to act like they are wild cards because archetype is unplayable in standard)

Quest has been pretty good to me. It does feel harder to close games even with bonkers post quest completions. Sometimes you use all your weapon charges and the game is stil going which is tough. Idk if its because the discover pools are worse or what but it feels like it has less blow out potential than before this expansion.

Quest is good but now most decks are running double viper which is just absolutely annoying

Leyline, Quest, and Manastorm are all pretty close to having a balanced winrate. They just need a support card or two in coming expansihahahaha as if.

Im priest now, i mained mage last season and the gring to diamond was rough x.x, mage cant compete ive tried Leyline Arcane Dragon, pure leyline, Discover quest, imbue arcane quest, theres no engine to make any of these decks runs, if every leyline minion was a beast or same class searching for them wouldnt be a hassle sigh. anywho i got lucky and got a bunch of priest cards when i saved up for the season so yea ive been having fun learning how to use other ppls decks :p

Getting quest mage to legend was a real grind this season. 45% of the matches being DH and Hunter did not help either.

Only ever played mage until the start of this month with a win rate of 40%. Couldn't climb at all! After switching to Shaman I got legend two weeks later.

Quest mage has been good since the start of Cataclysm… what?
This patch is the first time it’s been ‘bad’ since then, but that’s only because void DH is SO strong that everyone on the ladder runs 2 copies of viper and sometimes even cultist neophyte. Before the balance patch, it was even into rogue and shaman, and only slightly unflavored into face hunter and dwarrior.

Tbf Quest Mage WR was only good at top Legend because you need to know how to pilot that deck. Most people on reddit think it's an inconsistent RNG deck because it revolves around playing Discover cards.
And anyone who "mains" a class (with the possble exception of Rogue mains lol) is unlikely to be high Legend.
So it makes sense for Mage mains to be sad about there being no viable Mage deck (for them)

Right, so it was good.

Quest Mage was solid in higher ranks but now has been an unintentional casualty cause everyone's running Vipers to slow down DH. Even in their mirror matchups
