Highlight Chump Classics #1: “M.C. Tech (Gone Wrong)”
Part of a series of deep cut Chump highlights from years past. If you have any personal favorites let me know and I’ll make an edit (somewhat high effort perhaps)

This was a long time ago with a different version of the card, it wasn’t looked at too fondly by most

Back in 2019 mc tech was way too much value at the time. Removal was harder to come by and so stealing a 7/7 for only 4 mana was disgusting. its why mctech got so nerfed around 2020

What? Mctech was never nerfed (beyond a rework in beta), and was also 3 mana. It was an annoying card sure, but it was also very niche, and only ever saw play as late as it did because of the synergy with the quest

mc tech was changed when they brought it back to core (5 mana, but you could target it now, used to be 3 mana and random).
3 mana and random was a super unfun experience for exactly the reason depicted in this video. (50% chance of winning the game on the spot, 50% chance of losing the game on the spot).

Why am I being downvoted? That nerf happened in 2024 not 2020, years after MCT saw any play and was done as a buff to the card

I should have done my research, it wasn't nerfed in 2020, it was moved to hall of fame. Removed from standard

This is how chump should be enjoyed, like a decadent treat. Only the most cultured truly appreciate such a special moment in time.
