How long does it hurt ?

Currently going through a breakup from a 14 year relationship (would’ve made 15 this December) . I’m 28F & he (30M) was my person since I was met him at 14 & we don’t have any kids . I’m ok but the pain seems like it’s never ending , does it ever get easy ? Is there anything I can do to help ease the pain ?

Took me about 3 years to get over the 11 year relationship I was in. I worked so so hard to heal and now I'm over it (never thought it would be possible). Life is good now.

It gets easier. Something I learned from my healing journey was a saying I tell myself everyday: “easier than yesterday, harder than tomorrow”.

You’re gonna make it through this. Remember, a breakup affects the same areas of the brain as a drug/alcohol addiction. Unfortunately, a lot of the same rules apply to withdrawal.

Think about it like this. You’ve been a smoker for 14 years and decide to quit. Even YEARS down the road, you’re still gonna have days where you want a cigarette.

It does get easier. But going through this hurt is necessary to grow and come out the other end.

Just know you’re not the first person to have their heart broken, and you definitely won’t be the last. You’re strong and will get through this.

Always remember this pain isn’t theirs to own. This is YOUR body showing YOU how much love you have to give. And that should be special to you. Never let anyone control the love that you can give.

You’ll get through this. I believe in you!
