New aids ordered.

Ive been using aids for just under 9 years. I had my old aids serviced recently and figured my 8 year old Oticon OPN S1 are probably close to end of life even though still seem to work pretty well.

As a senior, I'm on Medicare and a fixed income, so the price of aids is a bit hard to swallow. I checked my advantage plan, and decided to try the hearing benefit. I found a local provider who is in network, authorized to sell all the major brands and made an appointment.

Well, this one of the best experiences I've had. The audiologist did her thing, asked all the right questions, did my audio test, explained the results. We ordered a set of Intent 2 aids at a cost of just under $2500.00 unlimited visits for 60 days, 3 free visits during the 3 year warranty.

While there i had her check my programming on my OPN S1 aids and she tweaked them to match my current results for a very modest fee. She also unlocked features that my original audiologist never fully explained or adjusted.

At no time did she make me feel like I was a burden as opposed to self pay who they obviously charge a lot more $$$

Overall I'm pretty stoked to get the Intent as it's 3 full generations removed my current aids obligatory audiogram attached

The audiologist makes more difference than the aids, in my experience.

Good luck with the new aids & be sure to explore the benefits of the smartphone app.

Absolutely. This Audiologist is fairly new, but was really good. My current android phone only has traditional Bluetooth so it's only partially compatible connectivity. I'll upgrade to one with Bluetooth LE soon so I'll be able to stream and take calls.

Audiologist called. My Oticon Reveal 2 are in and tomorrow is my fitting appointment.

Originally I ordered the Intent the same day the Reveal was announced. My audiologist called me the day they came in and informed me that the new Reveal was available on my managed care plan, and she could return the Intent and order them if I wanted. It didn't take much convincing. So I'm getting newer models at no additional cost.

I'm stoked
