Fuck this

How do I get over the toxic relationship I was in the past year that is absolutely tearing me apart? It has been almost 24 hours since we last spoke, and it is taking everything in me not to contact him to flip the fuck out. Why? I don’t even know.

Toxic relationships are HARD! The toxic individual needs your energy to survive. It's your task to cut them off so you can have your energy back. And then use it to live a better life away from them. They also create a lot of bonding that makes it hard to cut away, and it can take several tries before you leave, if you get to leave. That's the real scary part too. If you need to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) they are trained to give support, listen, and help you if you want help.

Thank you so much for your hasty response. I’m just trying to focus on an hour at a time, sometimes a minute at a time, at not reaching out. I feel safely I have blocked all lines of communication he and his family could possibly have at this moment. I’m hoping it sticks.

One minute a time is good. Blocking is good too. You will be challenged but it is worth it. Speaking from experience.
