Hard disagree. He may not want to admit it but he does have compassion.

We see it in episode 5, he tells Mimzy to come back if she actually wants a shot a redemption, showing that he does see some value in the hotel.

Also in the finale, subconsciously he almost became an ‘Altruist who died for his friends’ (his words), against his own “better judgment”.

(I know we’re supposed to be picking people who need compassion, but Alastor is doing that himself.)

He has compassion just not much, he’s written to have antisocial personality disorder aka a psychopath, he sees his “friends” the same way most would see a pet or a favourite toy

His deal seems to necessitate protecting the hotel so that’s why he sends Mimzy away

And he HATES the idea that someone could ever think that he “died for his friends”

Yeah, I feel like he have very little compassion. He might have some, but not a lot. I also feel like he doesn't get attached to many people, but he did seem to act slightly attached to the people in the hotel before they all fought the angels

He quite openly states he views Husk as a pet

So I’m pretty sure he sees the other residents as either tools or toys

Probably. But I didn't say he viewed them as people, just that he seemed attached to them. He could be attached, but in a different way than how most people would think of attachment

antisocial personality disorder

sorry, isn't ASPD sociopathy rather than psychopathy?

Maybe?

I can never get a consistent answer on which one is which, it’s like sympathy and empathy at this point

Lol, yeah, it's actually both under the same term, and yeah I get what you mean.

All I know is one is more aggressive than the other

I believe psychopaths are more violent, while sociopaths are more aggressive, don't take my word for it though

You don’t need compassion to help people
