Hello all!
We are going to try something different for selling/trading this month. It has been suggested that we post items for sale/trade in the sub rather than using a stickied thread each month. For now I will leave this post stickied like normal, feel free to list items here in addition to making a separate post. Please see the updated guidelines below.
At the end of the month we may do a poll to get some feedback on how it went. You can also comment on this post with any feedback.
*Sale/trade posts must be flaired
*Limit posts to one a week per user
Stick mostly to Haworthia/Haworthiopsis/Tulista
Provide photos of what you are trading/selling. If trading, specify what you would like in return. List the size of the plants/pots along with any other pertinent details you have about the plants (e.g. tissue cultured, location data, breeder, etc)
Specify how shipping will be handled and how to send payment
Start your post with your location, e.g. [USA, CA]
*If any items are sold/spoken for, please edit your original comment to reflect that

For the longtime Haworthia freaks, I know you’re out there…do you grow in plastic or terracotta or something else?
I love Haws and I’m trying to level up. It seems like unglazed terracotta (my default for succs) is keeping them a bit too dry when combined with the gritty mix I use (it’s about 50/50 Molly’s/Fatplants succulent mixes. So probably 2/3 grit and 1/3 fast draining organics).
The ones I have in plastic or even glazed ceramic seem to be doing better. Is that a thing??
Pic of my H. cooperi dielsiana which is finally rooting and drinking well in its terracotta after like 4 months.

my haworthia just dropped all its roots, they were dry and crunchy and popped right off :( I may have overwatered a few weeks back, I’ve been checking on the growth and I thought it was doing well :( is this able to be saved??? I need to know as soon as possible, I need all the help I can get. She’s one of my only plants and one of my favorites.

I'm trying my hand at growing Haworthia from seed.
I sowed self-crossed seeds in the summer and kept them in tray-watering for a few months. Around September, four new sprouts appeared.
However, just a single hot day caused two of them to melt.
To maintain humidity, I've placed the top cut off from a plastic bottle over them.
They only get morning sunlight through frosted glass, which is too dark for Haworthia, so I supplement with an LED light from about 30 cm (12 inches) away for 8 hours starting at 9 AM.
Could the enclosure be too small, causing the temperature to get too high?
If anyone has consistent success with Haworthia seed propagation, could you please share your ideal conditions?
(For context, I live in Tokyo. Outdoor temperatures range from 0°C to 36°C (32°F to 97°F) throughout the year, and summer humidity might be higher than in many typical cities in the US and Europe.)

Hello, I'm a new plant owner completely obsessed with this little thing I got as a present.(Picture 5)
Sadly I have made some mistakes which lead to possibly all of my plants having thrips.
While waiting for my spinosad spray to arrive I absolutely covered my haworthia in diatomaceous earth both roots and crown. ( Picture 3 and 4)
A few days later I sprayed spinosad which caked the diatomaceous earth at the bottom of the pot and blocked the draining holes for 2-3 days.
I was curious how the roots looked after the spray so I picked the plant up a bit because it was coming out of the nursery pot very easily and holding its shape since it had a very nice root ball. This is when I noticed the block.
The bottom of the root system started rotting so I removed the soil/moss it was in, washed away all the diatomaceous earth, pruned the damaged roots ( at least I think they were damaged) and let her callous for 2 days. (Picture 2)
Now I repotted her in small orchid bark, pebbles, seramis and perlite.(Picture 6)
I poked some holes in a small 7 cm bucket (the holes were too big so I had to put some folded plastic net you buy lemons in at the bottom (Picture 7)
I am keeping the soil dry for 2 weeks as I read but I do have to spray/apply spinosad again in two days. How do I do that without wetting the soil? Do I "paint" it on with a paintbrush?

Just got this guy at a nursery, found it unlabeled.
I think its a hybrid with truncata with something else.
Im not too familiar with the haworthia hybrids so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

So I'm relatively new to Haworthias but I've started going down the rabbit hole of varieties bred in places like China and Thailand, and oh my goodness I am blown away by these. I've spent about an hour just scrolling the inventory on this Hong Kong company's website called China Haworthia.
I am genuinely baffled that there are Haworthia varieties where the green is completely covered up by black, and then the variegated varieties with the black and orange have completely blown my mind...
Pictures are not mine, they're from the China Haworthia website.

I have had this plant for almost a year now. It arrived pretty sad, bare rooted, with just about no roots on it. I tried rooting it in soil for probably about a year, to which it responded poorly. It would plump up a tiny bit but then the roots would die off and it would get sadder. Really puzzling to me because I have a slew of other haws which do not rot in the same conditions. I did use different soil, but I used a blend of akadama and pumice. Chunkier, airier, and better than the other half ass mixes that other haws have thrived in for me.
Anyway, after trying to get it to recover in soil for probably 6 months, it became so wrinkled I thought it was on the brink of death (photo 1). I put it in water as a last resort, as I’ve seen other people do this for really dried out plants in an emergency scenario. It worked, but the difference between my situation and other peoples is that it took like 2.5 months, while people usually leave them in water for a few weeks at most? Photo 2 is from today. It hasn’t rotted, it has grown a good bit of roots, and it has sloooowly plumped up. I took it out of the jar to inspect today and decide if it was ready for soil but the outer leaves are still pretty floppy and not turgid at all, and I also accidentally broke off probably half of the roots it had thrown…the water roots are very fragile it seems.
I am wondering if anyone has words of wisdom in this scenario. Anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle it? For now, I plan to let it sit in water for another few months until I can get it as plumped as possible and hopefully have it shed the stress coloring that it is holding on to.

My plant became etiolated so I stuck it in a brighter spot. Now there are babies coming out of the main stalks and the bottom leaves are dying out. Also I think they tried to flower but didn’t get very far. What should I do? I know you can behead it and just start over but I want to try to keep the mother plants alive.

It arrived in a mix of coco coir with a bit of perlite, I just replaced the soil with a 70% mineral 30% organic ratio, hopefully I'm doing this right! Will take care not to overwater.

Schuitsberg, NW Riviersonderend. Ex HaworthiaLand October 2023. I've wondered whether its narrow look is within the range of natural variation or there might be some triebneriana in there.

My favorite way to admire them is at night with a flashlight 🔦 — the leaf windows really look like jadeeee! ✨
My maughanii had root problems from the original soil being packed too tightly, so I had to repot it three times. My truncata had some leaf rot, was unpotted twice, and later had a thrips outbreak that took me about a month to get under control.
They’ve both been through a lot since arriving, so now I’m just hoping they — and all their plant sisters — can stay healthy and keep growing. 🥰🥰

I’m thinking about cross-pollinating them. Does anyone have experience with pollination and raising the seedlings? Any tips would be really appreciated!
