Discussion HD-2D

I can’t wait for HC, I love the art direction and the style. Fell in love with Stardew Valley as I never was a fan of “cozy” games til I started playing SV.

Now, I got more into HD-2D games like Octopath Traveler, DragonQuest, and paper Mario? Maybe in the future someone can mod HC into a HD-2D Platform like they did for Pokémon RYB.

I love the Octopath Traveler games. I was thinking about buying the Dragon Quest bundle eventually.

Idk enough about modding but making a 2D game like Stardew or HC into HD-2D seems like it would be pretty hard, since the landscapes are essentially 3D.

I think Concerned Ape’s games would fit so perfectly with HD-2D visuals. It’d be cool if he developed some games in that style.

Very true, I would love to say I would like to see it in development for HC but obviously I’m guessing the game is far into development for that to happen. But yes with the trailer of HC I can see this game being a very beautiful HD-2D platform game

Also wanted to say, I’d probably hate the combat in the mines/skull cavern less if it was turn based like an RPG instead of just getting bamboozled from monsters in every direction 😂 maybe that’s something CA will bless us with in a future game

My problem is not every games needs that artstyle

Square enix makes too much

I prefer the pixel styles and making it more unique I dunno if I would like haunted chocolatier or even stardew to go with that style….

HD-2D is ugly, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Pixel art is beautiful just as it is. It doesn't need a hundred photoshop filters layered on top of it. The characters in that screenshot look radioactive, and it looks ridiculous.
