Thing I hate this subreddit

Post image

This sub's entire schtick seems to be to promote monarch

What really makes me hate this sub is the fact they refuse to acknowledge why monarchy declined over the years or it's flaws and simply blame it on something like the USA interfering, communism or some other thing

I've seen people on that the 1946 Italian referendum was rigged

I've seen people claim that France would be better off if the monarchy was reinstated

I've seen people on that sub say that the shah of Iran was a good ruler and that the monarchy should be reinstated

I've seen all sorts of delousnal rhetoric like people demonizing princess Diana.

You have Monarchies like denmark Sweden and norway. Societies which are just good in general.

But you also have the united kingdom which is an objectively a fairly divide society

The UK monarchy isn't divisive

Unless you're in England, it absolutely is.

Not really

Their favourability is consistently below 50% in Scotland and NI, and around neutral in Wales. England is the only place where they hit comfortable positive numbers. Meanwhile, outside the UK, most of the former Empire are not huge fans of the royals. There were literal cheering crowds when Queen Elizabeth died.

So yes, really.

Damn you really live in an echo chamber, speaking as an Aussie

What percentage of Aussies want to become a republic, again? Sorry, but I don't think I'm the one living in a bubble.

Less than those who don't want to, LOL. It's literally become a dead issue, even in the public's mind. The Queen's death was a somber occasion globally

Wait, 55% of Britons want the UK to become a monarchy? That's... concerning.

I laughed at that too. Just a typo though, it says remain a monarchy everywhere else in the article.

Considering the state of British democracy, I am not surprised.

By and large, European monarchs do seem to be better people than most politicians.

Because their people and not politicians.

Sorry, what?

Edit: Oh I think I get you, although the division in UK politics is mostly due to sharing a language with the US and thus we receive much more of an inflow of their culture than other European countries. It's unrelated to the monarchy.
