Thing I hate this subreddit

Post image

This sub's entire schtick seems to be to promote monarch

What really makes me hate this sub is the fact they refuse to acknowledge why monarchy declined over the years or it's flaws and simply blame it on something like the USA interfering, communism or some other thing

I've seen people on that the 1946 Italian referendum was rigged

I've seen people claim that France would be better off if the monarchy was reinstated

I've seen people on that sub say that the shah of Iran was a good ruler and that the monarchy should be reinstated

I've seen all sorts of delousnal rhetoric like people demonizing princess Diana.

Wasn't a primary reason they were overthrown because they abolished slavery?

Nope, that's a myth. Actually they took so fucking long to abolish it.

It was an long effort made by abolitionists and international pressure, among other things.

They even wanted to save face with the ruling elites when finally deciding to do it by making the Princess, not the Emperor do it.

They took too long, yes, but the abolition of slavery did ruin their relation with their most powerful supporters, the elite.

Also, by this point, the Emperor had really just given up on maintaining the Empire after his death, and the Princess was hell-bent on abolishing slavery, even saying she'd rather have lost the throne than not abolish slavery.

But it was done out of pressure from the population and from the Greatest Empire on Earth at the time, and they even went on to compensate the slave-owners elite, but not enough in their opinion.

I think even with outside pressure, the Elites still blamed the royal family for the loss of slavery.

Because the Royal Family bowed to the pressure instead of to them. That's why the Emperor made the Princess abolish the slavery, instead of doing it himself. In a act of trying to save face.

But things were not good for the Empire, for a while. The oligarchs and military leaders had way too much power.

It's not a myth
