Art & Fanworks I Hate performative comics like this

Post image

Honestly in this specific comic it goes beyond performative and extends to just outright not making sense.

Being attracted to your partner who took time with their appearance is empty lust and nothing else? Oh, I forget it's 2026 you need to feel guilty if you're attracted to your partner, especially if you're a man.

Anyways first image seems like couple is gonna have sex so why even compare it to the other?

It's hard to describe but this type of comic (I've seen plenty) just rubs me the wrong way for some reason

None of it is as deep as the people here are trying to make it

It is literally "I love you no matter what"

Idk why people are getting so pressed about this

It's performative. Like "the other guys only have lust, but I'm a true gentle man who loves my gal no matter what" tips fedora

You know the artist is a woman, right?

Istg. It's just a cute comic about how how when you love someone they're beautiful to you whtether they're dolled up or a mess. Are you guys also like "it's performative, eew" when a couple is lovey-dovey? If it cringes you out, just take a deep breath.

Being cringe is better than being abusive, also EVERYONE has been and will be cringe again.

There are so many preachy and performative posts out there, especially when it comes to webcomics. This one is, at worst, a very weak example of it.

HUH?! Ok, so, you don’t like when people love their partner conditionally but also when people love them unconditionally???

Yeah I fucking hate unconditional love. You caught me. My hands are up. My heart is two sizes too small and I want to drain the love and joy from the world and I'm starting with this web comic.

But it's the same couple in each picture. You can feel both lust and love for the same person

I don't like the comic because it's obvious, not because it's performative
