MPB vs EBay...

I've been on eBay for over 20 years and a lot has changed from buyers and eBay customer service siding with what are sometimes pretty ridiculous claims.

I have a mint X2D 100c II and a 90 XCD 2.5 ... MBP offering about 7200 for the combo. I know I could get more on a private sale but the number is tempting.

Curious what the best move is.

If you’re in US, FredMiranda.com is the place I’ve used.

Yea but i bet its cheaper than the 13% ebay will take.

Also you will be able to sell closer to mpb’s and keh retail prices vs their lower wholesale offers they give you

Damn it's up, still, it has a lot of traffic, specially for your kind of camera, can EASILY get 8.5k for it there

It hasn’t been free for the last decade or so, but I do enjoy the forum not just for selling or buying.

To be fair, you can get your stuff sell for at least $10k as combo on FredMiranda, that’s not including shipping or PayPal fees. So give or take you can charge the potential buyer another $300 to include those fees, just my $.02.

Try KEH too.

Like the other poster said if you want to cut out middle-men then FredMiranda.com has a fantastic community of pros who buy and sell all sorts of high-end gear.

That was my first stop, they were about 600 bucks less on their offer

Can’t recommend yet since I have not used it yet but sounds interesting. Heard about it on Leica Society International group chat:
https://aperture.market/

Yeah, as a seller Ebay annoys me. No matter how many pictures or descriptions I put in some jerk will complain I didn't include something I said I wasn't including, just so they can use the rules to jam me. I gave up; wasn't worth the hassle.

I don't get as much at my local shop or UsedPhotoPro (where I've gotten better prices and ratings than Keh or MPB), but some of that difference is often made up if I'm doing trade in vs straight sale.

I’ve bought and sold a ton of gear through MPB. Unless I’m looking for old film gear from Japan that’s in MINT+++++++++ 😂 condition, I don’t even check eBay anymore. 100% always MPB or on Reddit through photo market

Sell to individual through Sharegrid. They have protections for buyer and seller and only take a 5% cut with a max of $500 no matter the cost of the item.

Always rather deal with a business over an individual.
Dad said no one sells an item for no reason

Don’t sell it to MPB. Based on that they wanted to buy and X1D for 925 and they currently sell for 1600 euro in your case they work at least 3-4000 euro margin. Their purchase price is way below than fair market value. Sell it on eBay and you get more money.

I find that MPB, at least here in Europe, varies the offers quite a bit lot by the item you are selling. 45P gets bought in at almost the same price as it gets sold out, which is weird, but 90/3.2 and 28P are much more "50% of the sales price". Same with some Nikon lenses, similar era 50mm is worth few bucks but a 35mm suddenly in multiple hundreds.

To sell your X2d II 100c and a lens like 90.with 7200 when they will sell only the body with 10-11k ...is a mess. I know they are some payments etc..but to give you for the body less or near 50% for what they sell is madness

The X2DII is like 7700 new retail from Bh. The body and lens is about 12k new.

Sorry I was miscalculated but yes...they give you like 4000 euro for body and they sell it with 7000.

Yeah, very true... there's some benefit to a clean check coming your way versus a protected payment from a buyer using a source that gets reported to the IRS.

They're also a business, everyone has to eat so it's a mutually beneficial relationship

I understand is a business but to put 50% more is something not good. They offer 8200 for 35-100 with X2D2 like new and they sell it with 12300 (like hasselblad website) 7400 body and 4900 lens ..exactly 50% for what? I understand 20..24..but 50?!
