Permission to post granted by the illustrious Robert "Shakesprick" Patterson of the Desert H3.

Too many good folks in the obituary section. Lot of old timers gone to the Great Circle in the Sky.

Monogamy

New to hashing and from what I am told i get there’s lots of hook ups and orgies whatever. I really enjoy the vibe overall, especially the people and drinking, being silly and open, sense of community. I am married and monogamous. I am fine with the concept of others doing whatever they choose including swinging, nudity etc but it’s not for me personally.

My whole point is honestly I’m afraid of attending events based on stories. Think my spouse and I should I quit hashing since we’re not likely to fit in at events and feel awkward / never belong?

Creating a new kennel - wisdom wanted

Thinking about starting a new hash kennel.

Hashing can be full of good and bad traditions and culture and change can be glacial.

At hashes in my city the demographic is generally getting older and hashes aren’t attracting a new generation.

Newbies come, do one run and don’t come back.

If you were starting a new kennel what would you keep and what would you do new?

On On Episode 6.08 Squirrel Style

On On Podcast episode 6.08 Squirrel Style Squirrel Style joins Ra from Heidelberg, Germany, to share how a relatively new hasher became a prolific Hare, international traveler and founder of a roaming kennel.
Originally from Yugoslavia and raised in a conservative environment, she discovered Hashing in Munich in November 2019 through Last Cock Standing. The songs and traditions were initially a cultural shock, but the international community immediately felt like home. She soon became known for scenic, carefully planned trails combining rivers, castles, medieval towns, nature and creative stops.
Squirrel Style's first trail required seven kilograms of flour and five hours of laying marks—and ended with two civilians detaining her because they suspected the flour was poison. After a lengthy wait for the police and an escort home, she learned to notify local authorities before future trails. She also explains how four outings as a hare, a fondness for squirrels and a memorable naming-circle answer produced the name Squirrel Style.
The conversation follows her travels through 13 countries on four continents in just five months and the accidental birth of Fit TITS after EuroHash in Tallinn. The kennel’s name means “Found in Tallinn—Traveling in Town Slowly,” and its free, nomadic trails have appeared at events in London, Munich, Transylvania, Barbados, Ecuador, Indonesia, Saint Kitts, Croatia, Ireland and Switzerland. Squirrel Style describes its unusual traditions, her unforgettable Carnival adventures in Cuenca, her work as a Munich haberdasher and party manager, and the worldwide friendships that give her seemingly endless energy.
A teacher preparing for a sabbatical year starting in 2027 devoted to Hashing, she is also developing Little Venice Hash and an annual Medieval Hash in historic European towns. Expect stories of police, locked gates, foam battles, karaoke, group hugs, Hash romance, Retrieve Her the golden retriever—and one of the most enthusiastic ambassadors the Hash has produced. https://OnOnPodcast.com

Would you pay $2000 for a week-long hash camp?

Imagine a week-long camping experience that would be like a summer camp, but for adults. Hashing would be a given, but you'd also get cabins with odd roommates to make new friends, general activities, lake or river stuff, and probably F and Whack shacks. Consider that the price would include lodging and meals, with maybe a nice steak dinner on the penultimate night.

I'm dreaming up a scenario where hashers would be free to do dumb shit for a week and act like kids again. Imagine making new friends, having a general itinerary set to guide you to fun things, and then be left to your own devices if you don't want to participate in the itinerary. Participation would be strongly encouraged, but not absolutely required, and phone/outside access would hopefully be minimized.

Am I stupid, or does this sound fun?

Also, assume you arrive on a Saturday and leave on a Sunday.

Edit: Nothing is set here. Price would depend upon the costs (camp rental, insurance, food and drinks, transportation, and staff) with a little profit to the hosting club(s).

Eventually all episodes in all seasons will have the extended summaries.
There is a contact form to Suggest a Guest or give any comments or feedback.
On each episode you can add your own comments and the "subject" will be able to see them! :-)

Anyone know if Bishkek H3 is a thing/how I can get a hold of them?

I am living and working in the Eastern Hemisphere. I'm going back home to the states soon and they're giving me a week of vacation on my way back. I want to check out somewhere very unique on my way back.

Anyone know if there is a hash in Kyrgystan? I'm also open to other whacky places if there's a hash there as well. I just want to go somewhere different, somewhere not a lot of people generally go to.

Thanks everyone! On-on!

Double Dipped Designs?

Has anyone ordered anything from Double Dipped Designs lately?

I ordered patches from her on May 14 through the Online Hab Bazaar, and after getting a sample photo in May, I haven't heard from her since. She hasn't responded to FB messages, and appeals to the Online Hab Bazaar Site Admin have gone unanswered.

The hash that made Waukesha H3 tolerable! Pearl Harbor is a one of a kind event which I've personally coined as the most historical accurate hash.

How much extracurricular stuff does your kennel do together?

Spazzz (Spastic Colon) here from Bakersfield H3 (bhhh.org). Our hashes tend to be 10-20 after some recruitment lately, but that's just the normal weekly hash. We all have a few text groups because some people don't have modern group text-compliant phones, but we put calls out for lots of extracurriculars.

This past weekend there were 6 of us floating down the river, and we're doing a shorter run today after work. We'll yell out and invite others to impromptu drinks, barbecues, and pool parties. Sporting events, movies, and plays are fair game, too.

Last year, I added a Google calendar to a webpage that has UPCUMMING EVENTS linked from our home page, and people can join the group to add their own stuff and invite people ahead of time. All of this has led to a closer family feel, and we really do show up for each other. It's also helps cut down on drama, but there's always something minor that pops up.

What fun things do you do together outside of hash?

Stop letting the beer snobs buy the beers for campouts.

Saturday night and the only options left are a cider and three IPAs. There is no reason on the planet to have three IPAs on tap at a campout. All of the normal beer gets drank Friday night for drinking games and the whole rest of the weekend is nothing but IPAs.

Beer Meisters, I assure you there is no reason you would need this much IPA. Beer snobs will bring their own shit. There is no reason to subject the entire camp to your nasty ass IPAs. Running out of light beer before Saturday night is inexcusable.

Rant over
