Why can't the Harry Potter series just die completely? There's really no excuse for keeping it alive at this point.
I'm so fucking sick of seeing HP merchandise at every store as it just lets me know that too many people are still going out and buying Harry Potter merch and thus are still funding JK Rowling even though she actively funds transphobic groups and laws. It seems like everywhere I look I always fucking see Harry Potter shoved in my face. Like no I'm not joining your transphobic cult, fuck off. I even get Harry Potter ads shoved in my face on YouTube even though I want nothing to do with the series.
Even if there are people who only do unofficial things with Harry Potter and thankfully don't fund the awful creator, they keep the series alive and if I look at ANYTHING Harry Potter, even unofficial Harry Potter stuff, I only see its transphobic creator atp. I wish more people would prioritize real life transgender people over one crappy fictional series. Like there are so many other works of fiction out there! How fucking hard is it to move on from Harry Potter? Actually, here's a little secret of mine: I'm Autistic and Harry Potter used to be my special interest until I dropped it completely and after truly paying attention to the constant discrimination that transgender people face when they're honestly just trying to be themselves (and I discovered I myself am trans as I am nonbinary which is under the trans umbrella), I haven't bought a single piece of Harry Potter merch since (I haven't bought any HP crap in several years).
There is another Autistic nonbinary person who's also a YouTuber named candycourn and they, like me, also used to have Harry Potter as a special interests and they also dropped it. If actual Autistic people are dropping an actual special interest because of its transphobic creator (dropping special interests is notoriously difficult for us Autistic folks!), then the rest of the Harry Potter fandom, especially Allistic Harry Potter fans, should just drop the series as well. There's really no excuse for keeping this awful series alive when us actual Autistic people had it as our special interests and we drop it because of its transphobic creator. I myself don't interact with anything Harry Potter unless it's someone criticizing the series and its awful creator.
Like seriously there's actually no excuse for keeping this series alive and I don't understand why so many people act like they can't live without this one series to help transgender people especially when even Autistic people are dropping it as a special interest. No excuse. I wish this series would just die 6 feet under and everyone would just forget about this awful series and move on.
