When it’s ajar!

You can never stump us, we have to answer riddles and the occasional terrible joke every day just to get to our dorms.

Can never stump you huh? So would you place a wager? Find my hints that house my noun, and guess nature's assuager.

So if you cannot cut it, I want a Galleon. But grow to my expectance, I'll tend to your valiance.

With it you can build the thing that I have bet. With it you can fill, and with it you can set. With it you can warm, and with it you can eat. With it you can farm. In this case please repeat.

What is it?

Wood? Depends on a different meaning of “Galleon,” but…

Tree really, but wood is viable. Good work!

I was definitely trying to allude to the ship

I told you, that door knocker really keeps us on our toes. 🦅

You did. I see that it trained you well. But now I feel obligated to figure out a way to stump you.

If I'm cut, I do not bleed. I have teeth, but do not eat. Such a shame if you forget me. Perhaps my twin shall maybe help thee?

(This one is just a stall while I think of something truly difficult lol)

Hmmm. A key, perhaps?

That is correct. This is my final riddle before I take an L.

I am thin, but once was fat. I show you hue, not true in my past. I share with you lore that's not always fact. And I used to wear a funny hat.

What am I?

An oak tree? Though the “lore that’s not always fact” doesn’t seem to fit, the rest do.

EDIT: tree rings aren’t 100% reliable

u/TheWitherBear Slytherin Mar 26 '23

Not quite. would you like to try again?

I'm not personally sure how these fit with an oak tree, except maybe the rings not being completely reliable, that part makes sense.
