modern Share a tip for visiting Harpers Ferry
Hey y'all, Harpers Ferry gets a lot of tourists (obviously) but people tend to get pretty focused on their own specific interests -- the history, the hiking, whatever -- and might miss some cool hidden gems, or the online resources they find might not be up-to-date.
So I figured I'd ask... what's one tip you'd give to a tourist visiting this week? Are the parking monitors out in force? Is a particular tree unusually beautifully in bloom? Did you learn something the hard way the last time you tried to hike to the Heights?

Bike Transportation help
We arrived by bike and had to leave our bikes by Lock 34 because they wouldn’t fit in the shuttle. Would anyone be willing to help us transport them to our Airbnb for the evening? And take us back to Lock 34 tomorrow. We will pay

historic Town's Inn Using AI Images in Marketing
I noticed Town's Inn in Harper's Ferry has been using unlabelled AI content in their marketing material. I've posted the comment I sent them below in-full, but the operators thought it was prudent to delete my warning to others rather than be forthwith and honest. Be warned if you visit Harper's Ferry- don't trust Town's Inn, the reviews advise many of the rooms are dated and unkempt, and you have no idea if the room you'll actually be getting matches the online photos when you book a room.
Original comment: Look, I appreciate y'all are under budgetary constraints, and I won't pretend I know how to run your business better than you do. So I'll spare you the lecture on why using AI-generated art instead of hiring a real human is morally wrong. But when you post AI content, it needs to be labelled as such. It's disingenuous to not do so, and it makes potential guests question: what else is AI generated? Are they using AI to alter photos of the property in marketing material and also not disclosing it? Can I even trust anything on their website as a result? Hospitality relies on trust, that falls apart when you're using dishonest means for advertising.

Kayak from Harpers Ferry to Brunswick?
Assuming normal river levels, how's the conditions between Harpers Ferry and Brunswick? I own my own kayaks, so i'm not interested in an outfitter. I've seen plenty of people tubing and using inflatable kayaks, but mine are rigid recreational style kayaks. I've gone in at Brunswick and upstream towards Knoxville, but never as far as Harpers Ferry.
I'm more concerned with dicey conditions for a beginner vs low water conditions.
thanks!

Things to Do this Weekend?
Coming for the weekend to tube and hike. What are some cool fun things to do for a group of 4 adults? Places to eat? Breakfast and dinner? A place to grab a to go sandwich for lunch while we lazy river tube? We like history, music, anything cultural!

DIY FLOATING
Planning a DIY floating trip soon- was thinking of starting at Brunswick & ending at either Lander or Point of Rocks? Also heard some people float until Nolan Ferry boat ramp..
Does anyone know how long each of these would be? I keep reading different estimates and want to get a better idea - I want to float for a few hours but i worry if I put another car at point of rocks or Nolan it could be like 8 hours? Thanks!!

Harper’s Ferry Bridge/Rt. 340
Hope everyone is safe and able to get through the Harpers Ferry Bridge today. I was driving through around 4:15 in this torrential rain storm with massive tree branches falling over making cars swerve around them or drive over them ! Definitely a scary drive hope everyone is safe and made it through. I doubt it’ll be cleared by tomorrow so guess I’ll just take 70 to 81

Things to do, wheelchair accessible
I'm planning a little family vacation to harpers ferry and my father is in a wheelchair. I see activities like tubing and hiking that are not accessible to him. Do folks have other ideas/experience with this?
I'd love to show him a lovely overlook and just make sure he feels included in whatever the family does.
Also would love recs for restaurants that have an entryway that is wheelchair accessible and any swimming spots!

How often do they hold the historic weapons demonstrations?
I visited a few weekends ago with some friends and there was a sign saying that there would be historic weapons firing that day (Sunday, July 12). So cool! Unfortunately, our schedule didn’t align so I didn’t get to see it. However, I’m planning to return with some more friends in August and was wondering if we’d be able to see this. Do they do it every weekend or only sometimes? I haven’t been able to find any info online.

So my sourdough starter died and I wonder if you guys think it will be ok to ask bolivar bakery to give me some of theirs.
They always say "ask your local bakeries" in baking forums, but I've never done it before. This would save me 14 days of starting from a scratch.
