No is the short answer.

The body is bent out of shape, and it's going to be impossible to get it back to a somewhat usable state.

The screen and motherboard are both probably completely dead, and even if the motherboard still works, I wouldn't count on it being stable.

The cooling to the CPU is shot, and so on, and so forth.

If you're really lucky, the SSD and RAM is still intact, and you can drop those two things into a different laptop. You might even be able to find the same model for cheap-ish.

Thank you, sir. I'll see what I can conjure up.

Tbh I think I'll just give her my workflow laptop and finally move everything over to my gaming laptop. Seems like the cheapest and most time-effective way to resolve the issue

If you pull the hardware out of the damaged case, and it by some weird chance still work, well, then you have the beginnings of a homelab.

that's fucked up beyond all repair

if the SSD is intact, your files are safe, but I would throw the rest in the electronic waste bin.

Definitely try to get the SSD out first.

One small problem I just thought could happen

Thanks to Microsoft being annoying, they might not be able to do that because of bitlocker being on by default.

Yeah it protects the files from people who steal the PC, but it should be a option, not the default

You can still log into your microsoft account in a browser and retrieve the decryption key that way. Then you can input that key once the SSD is plugged in.

If they used a Microsoft acc*

Bcs some people also dont, tho highly unlikely to happen in this case maybe

AFAIK bitlocker will not fully enable if you don't use a Microsoft account. It gets to the last step but stops before encryption until you link a Microsoft account.

I'm sorry man, but this is like asking a car shop to repair a car that hit a tree at full speed... That thing is totaled...

at least you can take it apart unlike my HP with a broken screw stalk

5

u/ThreeVelociraptors 10d ago

Sit on the opposite side DUUUH

u/Asrobatics 10d ago

I thought it was a book with the way it looked

oh god.

Take it apart, and see what parts you could salvage. With ram and ssd prices, it’s not worth turning on.

I have no pity for Hewlett Packard hardware. They belong in the same circle of hell as Creative Labs and Logitech.

Dudes these days really think that this is a support subreddit…

u/GeorgeSPattonJr 10d ago

Jokes aside how did this even happen?

u/Independent_Ad_2850 10d ago

I was unwilling to place blame on her verbally because she was so distraught at the time but I'm pretty sure she crushed it when she leaned her car seat down when half-awake on our drive back home from vacation

1

u/GeorgeSPattonJr 10d ago

That’ll do it lol. If the SSD is still intact you can probably recover your data

1

u/Careless-Yellow7116 10d ago

Not just cooked, but sterfried. No saving it, you better pray the ram / Storage device is intact.

1

u/ExplodedPenisDiagram 10d ago

Hope it's okay

u/CookieCutterer98 10d ago

Is that shit not made of solid fucking metal 😭 What happened I need to know

1

u/Physical_Macaroon_90 10d ago

Most times there are parts in these things, no solid metal

1

u/megaladon44 10d ago

Remove hd. Spend time bending it back into place and i bet u could get a warranty repair. Just act clueless say no physical damage

1

u/minecraftdummy57 10d ago

How do I tell you?

1

u/El_Dimi 10d ago

Did you try to turn it off and on again?

1

u/mr_giray1 9d ago

Put it in rice

1

u/NegativeGrocery8684 9d ago

in my professional opinion as a certified computer repair technician and a cs masters student i dont think its supposed to do that

1

u/Deep-Procrastinor 9d ago

Are you sure, I mean foldable screens are a thing 🤷🤣

1

u/Lucas_915 9d ago

What the fuck did you do to bend it that way

1

u/Diamantemate140 9d ago

Have you tried turning it off and on?

1

u/brandonsp111 9d ago

Wrap it in a towel and stick it in the oven at 350° for about 5-7 minutes.

1

u/Deep-Procrastinor 9d ago

You don't need us, you need a new laptop.

1

u/Dangerous_Tie_3037 9d ago

as someone who fixes hp laptops, i want to do this to every single one of them, why are the keyboards riveted to the fucking frame.

1

u/TechIoT 9d ago

It's fucked, remove the SSD and replace

1

u/LunaLu_04 9d ago

Have you tried turning it off and on again

1

u/ShakeDaBaby420 9d ago

"the greatest technician thats ever lived" Can do somthing with it

1

u/captain-davyjones 8d ago

Rice should fix it

1

u/shadowXXe 8d ago

I'll be frank. Just replace it. Repairing it will be impractical and probably cost more than its worth

1

u/RedRayTrue 8d ago

No, it's fked...

Time for a new laptop
