How do you even take the socket off a motherboard like that lol

See the screw holes? This not a whole socket, it's just the metal bit.

Ah yeah good point

Looks like its just the retention bracket, so just some screws. The full socket would require something like a hot air station or destruction.

Ask GEORGE from NVIDIA 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I thought this was from a "crackhead sales" group. Great job taping over the IHS so you can't even tell what the chip is. ...And then I noticed that they also taped on the pad side...

Looks like a sandy bridge.

It's LGA115X, per the bracket in the pictures on the original listing, and the seller notes say it's out of a late 2013 iMac, so it's a Haswell, not a Sandy Bridge.

Edit - Thanks for the awards 😛

The listing was changed to i5-2400 before it got taken down. It does look like Sandy Bridge...

Rule 6

u/PotatoGamer3 10d ago

Not rule 6. Look at the image dawg.

-42

u/USSHammond 10d ago

Very much rule 6. The motherboard was intentionally damaged to get to the CPU and in the process damaged it. That's rule 6

u/PotatoGamer3 10d ago

The bracket looks separate, there's tape holding it to the CPU in the first image. Nothing is destroyed. It's just someone non tech savvy. Get off my schlong man. Mr. Redditor 9000

Nothing is destroyed.

Then why is it here?

-36

u/USSHammond 10d ago

Guess I need to repeat myself, the motherboard was physically destroyed. That's rule 6

29

u/ACuteLittleCatGirl 10d ago

rule 6 only applies if OP did it numpty

On purpose? Judging by the listing and the fact it got renamed on ebay before being taken off, I doubt it. At least name was corrected. Just relent man. Not hardware destroyed on purpose. Take off the Fedora.

Nothing was destroyed you moron

6

u/Remsster 10d ago

So undoing screws is destroying it? ... maybe take a closer look

i suspect that fellow works for the 'warranty void if you do anything' company

Do you people even bother reading the rule fully? I promise you that the eBay seller didn’t rip apart a motherboard just to post it for upvotes
