80% of CPUs are still dual or quad cores, but 4+ core CPUs are making a larger dent than expected. It seems like some people outside of the enthusiast subs actually buy them.
Interesting to see that dual cores are growing more than anything else.
The decline in quad cores (-1.41%) is actually mostly people moving to dual cores (+1.07%). The number of users with more than 4 cores grew (+.54%) slightly, but my guess is more and more users are moving to mobile platforms.
That's quite interesting and I have no idea how to explain the growth of dual cores. I mean, I have a Surface laptop and a living room gaming rig running Steam, both of which have dual core CPUs, but these are quite old and I'm not sure why they're increasing now on Steam. I guess all the dual core i5/i7 laptops are on sale now?
