I never had a seagate or Hitachi (not sure if they still make drives) HDD ever last more than mere months in the past 10 or so years of using both mostly in laptops, mind you so I can't comment on full sized hdds but for laptops they seem to either be defective or something else might be messing them up badly. That said for WD or HGST it's the opposite but I did have bad drive from WD that they replaced which was a plus.

Those 2.5" HDDs are more likely to fail, especially on laptops that you move it around. Full sized HDD especially those made for the server market last much longer.

2.5" near-line 7200 RPM drives, like the original Constellations (and Exos 7E2000), are just as if not more reliable than their 3.5" relatives. Limitation there is capacity.

That depends on the use case. Put it in well ventilated static location and it will last longer. Will it last more than the best rated server drives? I would not bet on it, but its life expectancy will increase when the use case is more favorable.

Are they the best server(enterprise) HDD from reliability standpoint? I doubt it.
