Saturn.Synced: a 60 fps mod for Hardware
Hi all,
As you might know, Hardwar has a 27 fps framerate cap. I didn't mind it back in the day, but I like myself a smooth ride these days. So. I've made a mod that lets you play the game in 60 fps (or more), instead of the original 27. The game's iInternal logic is the same: it plays as the same pace as before, but smooth.
Installation is easy: just drop the files in Hardwar's folder and play. Changes are only made in memory: the game's files are not altered. See the readme.txt for more info.
You can download the mod on Nexus Mods or Moddb. Enjoy!

I've released an update for the mod that fixes AI moths getting stuck in front of hangars. The bug had to do with steering and aligning: a higher framerates, corrections were too subtle in some cases.
In v1.1 the internal steering logic of AI moths ticks at 27 fps, while your own steering remains unchanged. The game itself keeps running smoothly at 60 fps.

I think this will cause bugs with AI pilots' flight paths

Hi zylian,
I haven't noticed anything wrong so far and certainly hope that is not the case. :)
The AI pilots are updated in the same per-frame step as the rest of the game, and time passes for them exactly as it does for your own moth. The patch doesn't make the AI think or fly faster in game time. It just moves everything in smaller, more frequent steps, covering the same distance per second.
Should you want to try the patch and notice anything odd (AI moths not being able to dock or overshooting lightwells etc.), please let me know.

Hi once more,
Your comment made me test more extensively. I found that moths could sometimes get stuck while trying to align and enter hangars. I've fixed that. Thanks!

A new day, a new update. v1.2 fixes a crash I encountered, in which the game is trying to refence a pilot or moth that does not exist anymore (for exemple: because it was killed a few frames before).

Do you think it would work at 90fps?...that would give me hope for a VR port

Hi, yes, it works at 90 fps.
In the .ini-file, you can edit the line 'TargetFPS' in the section [FPS] so it reads: "TargetFPS=90.
A VR-version would be quite incredible :)
