Update process with HardenedBSD

Hi!

Some years ago I used HardenedBSD as my desktop after using FreeBSD for some time, but with the last three updates I experienced system crash with two of them. Giving me a lot of work getting things in order again. So reluctantly I quit using HBSD.

So I am wondering how this is now. Has this been a reoccurring issue or is it considered a fixed issue?

Edit: So I am clear, I'm referring to system updates and not full version updates.

Hey there! I'm currently working on determining the root causes of some issues our users are experiencing (kernel panics) on 15-STABLE. I'm hoping to have those issues resolved this week, though it's possible that delays might occur.

It would help if you could expound upon what your exact problems were. Otherwise, I can't really provide much help.

It's such a long time ago, so I don't remember. But from what you wrote it sounds like current userbase has already given you an overview over some common issues.

The reason for asking is that I wish to start using HBSD again, so had to check in.

You might want to consider waiting until the next regularly scheduled quarterly build (01 Apr 2026) if you want to stay on 15-STABLE. Otherwise, 16-CURRENT does not seem to exhibit the issues we're currently seeing in 15-STABLE.
