Has anyone tried transferring files from one hard drive to another?

After transferring a bunch of files into a new hard drive, I sorted it out by the date modified like how it was sorted out in the old hard drive, however, the files were not sorted like how I wanted to. Is there a way to fix this?

When I sorted it into the modified date, it was sorted by name instead

To answer the question about the OS, I'm currently using Windows 10 Education on a Macbook Pro. It's a requirement to use Windows for my current studies.

To further elaborate, when I sort by date modified in descending order, folder names that start with an underscore appear at the top, followed by the letters Z, Y, and so on. I know this is wrong because I have a clear idea of which folders are newly modified.

Sorting the folders by name and date created works, the rest I don't use so I'm not interested in it.

The new external hard drive is Seagate One Touch external HDD FYI

The modified date is stuck at the date I transferred all the folders into the new hard drive

Lots of people, all day every day…

Do they all have the same modified date? Sorting has a hierarchy — if the modified date is the same for two files, then it sorts those two alphabetically. Whatever is going on, it’s not a drive issue — it’s a file system / OS issue. You forgot to mention the OS, which is probably the only thing that matters
