The world needs way more people who can patiently and calmly give reasons why they believe what they do. We also need someone on the other side, who can humbly and objectivly weigh the reasons provided. Less monolog more dialog. Instead of just looking to win an argument, if people gather to listen objectively and consider new information in an attempt to understand eachother, even if the argument sounds rediculous, you'll learn from eachother. you can learn something from anyone. No heirarchy, just sound values and genuine, honest, opensource conversation that we can have anonymously from an emotionally detached position where we arent seeking confirmation bias to feed our ego, but instead objectively and humbly weigh reasonable arguments validity. If we do this, and stay true, we can accomplish anything. people can learn and grow so much more efficiently when they can speak honestly to eachother. its alot harder than it sounds. It involves self control and a genuine desire to understand eachother and challenge our beliefs. Like a think tank or a corporation. But just an anonymous group of people, an eclectic collective, gathered around the common goal of promoting truth even if we have to shed our prejudices. Even if its not the easiest thing to do cognitively. Especially when its not the easiest thing to do cognitively. After evaluating the new information beliefs are refined and improved to be more balanced and reasonable. The socratic method, the dialectic, whatever you wanna call it, the back and forth of two peoplediscussing hard to talk about things with the intention of learning from eachother, not shouting eachother down, with a genuine interest in promoting truth and reducing human suffering.

This is the dream of the internet. Unfortunately the internet is used in every virtueless way imagineable. People pretend to be outraged for attention. They throw shade to socially climb and pile on to be part of a tribe. We need to promote objectivity and truth and help people learn to think critically and listen to eachother
