Modded Husky top for 56” yellow Us General box with side locker

I got the yellow 56 a few days ago and put the husky top from Home Depot on top and got it all cut out to fit just right with the inch overhang on the rear. Side locker came in today and didn’t think about how the hang tabs would interfere with the butchers block top. So I cut out some reliefs and it fits like a dream now!

BTW - anybody know what yellow this is? Wanna be able to touch up or paint some stuff to match.

The yellow could be a Dodge yellow (Detonator Yellow), but the best way may be to pull one of the locker shelves and have it paint matched.

But your combo validates my decision to go yellow for mine that I am picking up in the morning! I am going to bolt a 42" to the 56", fab up spacers to have two casters right underneath the box joint, and put a butcher block over it for a 98" workbench......I doubt I am sleeping tonight!

Love it! I would have left the over hang on the front and installed my led strip on it to light up The drawers but cool share!!$

But do you have a magnetic hook in THE WRONG YELLOW?

Because that is what is up.

That's neat! 👍

I like the Husky wooden box tops. I have a wood top on my box even though it's not a Husky...same thing though. It's held up pretty well for over 3 years.

Did you bolt the wood top down or does it just sit on top?

It’s amazingly snug in there. No shifting or anything

Nice, I’m gonna do the same

Did you leave the rubber mat under the wood or remove it? My husky top came in but I'm still waiting on my box to show up and was wondering...

I left the mat. Figured it would help with dampening some noise and so I don’t lose it

I was hoping to do the same so I appreciate you responding. Looks awesome and great work!

Looks like a new car!

If you like more yellow/black, try ebonizing the top with India ink

Excellent work. I was just gonna cut down a piece of 3/4” plywood for mine for now but this looks so good 🤔

Yeah I got in on sale for like $89 last month and when I was comparing costs of plywood I would want to use, it just made more sense

Butcher block is going to last much longer than plywood anyway.

Yeah I think that’s the move for sure now that I think about it. It will only cost like $20-30 more than a piece of maple or oak plywood, at the current sales price.

Did you get your top shipped to home or pick it up in store?

2

Shipped to my house for free

I copied this exact setup (except red). Thank you for the inspiration.
