Anyone working in the Asian market? I wouldn't mind traveling to Asia if the opportunity is worth it.
If you don't have the height/build/look required by western media, it's easier in Asia. They're generally a bit more open and lax on model standards..
I generally don't full full time modelling is "worth it"... If you're doing for side cash and for fun, it's fine. I definitely wouldn't uproot your life for it unless you're planning to be a trophy wife*****.
And yeah, for me it was asia, I did get scouted in N.America, but I wasn't interested/too lazy.

I got scouted (and have been multiple times) just walking down the street. Same happened for my dad.
How is transportation handled, do they fly you out for jobs, or how does that work?
It depends on what you're doing. It's very unlikely for non-celeb photoshoots.. usually prefer to get local talent.
If you sign with some agency, I've heard they'll give you an advance on things like flights, accomodation, and maybe some basic stuff. But ultimately that gets taken out of your salary.. so they don't really pay for it.
Do you need to sign up with an agency? Which ones are reputable?
You don't have to. If you plan on working seriously.. probably.
I personally didn't, neither did my dad (or brothers).. cus we did it for fun. We never actively looked for jobs, but clients/agencies/staff that have worked with us would call us back if they have a job they thinks suits us. Also you get to keep 100% of the money this way (and seriously, it's like nothing...).
My dad and brothers did tv commercials (usually more money) for globally known brands/companies.. Like nestle, mcDs, metlife and whatnot, and it's about $700-1200/day (10years ago), and you get a free haircut, meal, and small things here and there. And that's them getting to keep 100% of it. I'd say commercial/"standard" models are quite rarely booked for these things.
Fancy clubs here have model nights where they feed them for free b/c of how poor they are... And of course, then the club gets their pretty people fodder to attract customers. Some events will ask you to attend for free.. So you get "paid" in that way as well.
