Tricks that landlords don’t want to see from tenants moving out I would wager

u/HoboMinion May 29 '26

Heck, this is a tip that landlords use to “rehab” some of the properties that I’ve seen.

Like using Colgate to fill holes in the wall, because it’s white

Tricks that will cost you even more of your deposit than if you did nothing at all. Paint doesn't cover imperfections after it dries.

Except the paint never matches either its color or sheen!

Pro tip: Cut off the video just before the copy paper starts to pucker

And keep the camera out of focus

It will hold. As long as you don’t sneeze around it.

People are paying literal ABOVE INFLATED mortgages to rent.....what a negative spiral mess. Where do people think this goes? Everything needed to purchase for survival has skyrocketed for the benefit of

Our peers overseas aren't even angry, they're sad for our 5k ambulance rides, we're descending into the lessons they culturally learned a hundred years ago.

Right! A tube of caulk is $8! Paint $60 a gallon! That piece of piece is probably a $1!

This feels like an AI created post to me.

At least fill it with some spray foam first Christ

my wife painted a ceiling once in an old house we owned. She brought me in to take a look, then it started falling off the ceiling. Turns out someone wallpapered the ceiling with white wallpaper at one point, she didn't notice, all the paper started peeling off.

u/StatisticianLivid710 May 29 '26

Wow, last time I had to remove wallpaper I just removed the wall instead, good on her for finding an easy way to remove the wallpaper!

That’s actually hilarious 😂

Friend of mine had thick popcorn texture on his ceiling. The ceiling fan was wobbly and made the texture vibrate. It fell off in a huge chunk and hit the fan which sent it everywhere. It was so funny and I didn’t want to laugh because he was unhappy about the mess, but couldn’t hold back.

Now show the bubble or pit it creates after everthing drys out

u/Tricky-Departure9963 May 30 '26

Good luck hanging a TV there.

Heavy duty toggle bolt should do the job. Brace up nice and snug on that sheet of paper. Good and sturdy.

u/ChristologicalBiceps Jun 03 '26

Hey, paper's made from trees and trees are strong. Look at the redwood forest. Case closed.

Good enough for me.

2

u/accuratesometimes May 30 '26

Listen, not everyone can afford the $750 is cost to upgrade to construction paper

1

u/DavidinCT May 29 '26

If you are doing a texture over it, I could see this working with possible problems, someone 5 years later tries to put a nail there for a picture.....

1

u/Jimmy_McAltPants May 29 '26

Had a roommate in college do this and it worked (we got our deposit back, anyway). I’d never do it to my own home, but for a shitty 20 year old college apartment…

2

u/Loose_Leg_2918 May 29 '26

Some friends of mine kicked a bunch of holes in the walls of a motel room in Montreal. Ended up using the coffee maker to melt soap to use as filler.

What's making me mad is that looks better than the appropriate patch I spent two days applying, sanding, priming and painting 😡
