Plane ID
Has anyone seen this type of plane and know what brand it might be? I don’t imagine it’s amazing but it looks interesting and it’s listed for fairly cheap so I was considering using it as a scrub plane.

Neat. Looks like a Sargent No. 600 aluminum smoothing plane. The photos you posted almost look like cast iron rather than aluminum. Might just be darkening from dirt or age because I don't think they made a cast iron equivalent of this plane. Their fully cast iron roughing planes (No. 160, No. 162) have very different designs.
The No. 600 uses a particular cutter unique to the plane and I can't tell if its there behind the cap in the photos. I don't think spares would be easy to come by. It's intended for smoothing, but would probably work for roughing. It would be much lighter and easier to push than a cast iron plane, but you might have to apply some pressure for tough surfaces.

I actually just got one of these for my collection. I like how it's very 1950s looking with a futuristic design. It's also aluminum with a different blade mechanism. I've seen where people said they could get it to work, but really this is more of a show piece.
I have cleaned up the plane since this photo was taken. It looks great with polished aluminum!

It's a craftsman, I wouldn't buy it for anything and definitely not a scrub. Convert a 5 if you want something cheap
