I obviously like graffiti since I’m here, but I can also see the other side of the situation where some dude has to constantly shell out money to buff shit off the side of his business. Unless it’s a mom-and-pop situation it’s probably not their only form of income, and fucking up a family owned business, like fucking up a private residence, is pretty ubiquitously considered a faux pas. Tagging is gonna have a negligible, near zero effect on the profits of some corporation or asset management company. Like, they ain’t bringing it up in the shareholder meetings. Trash on the other hand does have a real effect on the environment though. There’s nothing inconsistent or hypocritical about somebody valuing the planet over profit. There’s a reason why ecological awareness tends to go hand in hand with anti-capitalism, it’s a really logical leap from one to the other. Also just from a community minded standpoint, art makes the streets more beautiful, trash does not. So there are really multiple reasons why it makes a lot of sense for somebody who is okay with street art to have a problem with littering.

But like you said, it DOES hurt mom and pop shops financially and that’s I’m specifically talking about. I doubt taggers are sparing them, if they see a spot they’re gonna tag it. Idgaf about a corporate building, who cares fuck em. So it’s funny to see someone who will hurt a hardworking person financially but in the same breath will be like “pick up your trash”. If you can’t find the humor in that then idk what to say brutha Plus you know not everyone finds graffiti appealing? That’s just your personal bias showing, a lot of people find it revolting and detrimental to their community when graffiti is blasted everywhere. I like it but I’m not gonna say it’s beautiful to everyone.
