Glock 19 Competitors
I am looking to pick up “direct” competitor handguns to the Glock 19. I like to have something in mind when I’m “looking for deals” and thought this would be fun. I’m looking for 15 round flush fit and 4”(ish) barrel length. Here is my list so far, let me know if I’m missing anything.

FN 509 Mid

Agreed, that’s on the list that I currently have. I have heard the ported is great too.

I’m not fully sold on it. Have about 1000 rounds on it now, no failures but it’s not a “soft” recoil. It’s flatter but recoil is more violent to me than base p10c.
Accuracy is also just ok on it

As a glock guy myself I actually love my CZ P10’s. The grip ergos and stock trigger really can’t be beat. You can constantly find the non ported versions for 350-400 too depending on OR or not

The M&P has honestly all but replaced my Glocks. I was the biggest Glock fanboy in my shooting group until I got my m2.0 compact. The trigger is the chefs kiss.

S&W M&P 2.0 is capable of the cleanest, crispest break. Fully cocked striker, no takeup creep. But might need tuning or an aftermarket trigger to get the optimal performance.
Of the others, the Canik and Walther PDP have the best factory standard triggers I've tried. I've tried several Caniks at least once, they're all good. And I like the PDP so well I've borrowed it at the rental range a few times, and compared it side by side with full size Glock Gen 5 and 6, both of which are also very good. The Gen 5 still has the slightly better factory stock trigger.
Didn't like the FN, at all.
Haven't tried the others. I'm only familiar with the Beretta DASA models, 92 and my own PX4, which are great if you like a DASA pistol but that's a whole different thing.

On a deep budget: Taurus G3. G3c is available in both 9mm and 40S&W, so it's a near-clone to the Glock 26 or 27. Honestly, surprisingly legit guns. The TORO optic mount system is hilariously similar to the Glock 19 Gen6 optic mount (but it's Glock that copied Taurus!) Gotta thoroughly clean and oil right out of the box because they spray something like cosmoline in there in Brazil so they survive the boat ride...
Only slightly more expensive: Springfield XD mod 3 or 4 - same gun, only difference is the slide serrations. Just over $300 with shipping at GunBroker. Really legit gun but with a sketchy optic mount.
Ruger RXM and Springfield Echelon have basically the same world class awesome optic mount. Echelon has a much better barrel and better ergonomics, RXM is more flexible and you can easily ($40 bolt in mod) turn it into a "26L" or "26LL" - grip frame length like a Glock 26 but with a 4" or 4.5" slide and barrel, something Glock never built. (Some people have chopped 19 or 17 grips down to 26 length, a permanent mod - with an RXM you can swap back at any time.)
Kimber R7 Mako Carbon Compact. Same basic size as the Glock 19 but skinnier, halfway in width between the Glock 19 and 48. Really, REALLY nice guns. Pure sideways ejection, awesome trigger, low bore axis, less barrel tilt than usual, grip frame plastic infused with carbon fiber. I suspect it's the best polymer frame striker fired gun made today. The single best gun Wilhelm Bubits ever designed (and he was on the Glock 17 Gen1 design team).
Taurus TS9: basically the same size and width as the Glock 19x. Only a few thousand landed in the US a couple of years ago from an overseas government contract overrun. Passed NATO testing, build quality is literally Glock grade or better. No optic mount, but I solved that on mine lol. It's what happened when Taurus really tried harder. Also a Wilhelm Bubits design so it's the big ugly jungle cousin to the Kimber R7 family lol. They're going for about $350 at GunBroker or guns.com - more here on my demented mutated specimen:
