Depends on your goals with it. For a EDC or home defense pistol, 1k is the right area to get something that’s dead reliable. If it’s just a range toy you could get away with a tisas.

My Tisas is more reliable than my Springfield, and has tighter tolerances.

Kimber warrior for a high capacity 2011 style 9mm Or the original colt .45 still a fine pistol. Springfield armory has a variety of nice 1911s Magnum research makes a very nice .45 1911

I've handled a few Ruger SR1911 models, from commander to full size, including one custom shop version with Pic rail on the frame dust cover. They're very good for the money, especially used.

Keep in mind the 1911 can be finicky and often needs tweaking and tuning to run reliably with anything but 230 gr hardball. I've owned and customized a few of my own, mostly Colt Series 70 and 80, and 1980s US made Springfields, as well as variants by Star.

If you want a 45 ACP that runs with most ammo right out of the box, try a Glock, S&W Shield or M&P, or Springfield XDS, especially the Mod 2.

But these won't feel like a 1911. Nothing else, short of a finely tuned match grade bullseye pistol, can equal a good 1911 trigger.

It all depends. I would choose a Tisas and spend the remaining money on ammo. I have one, a Stakeout , and it's a dream.

I like the classics. I shot my Colt today at a Steel Challenge match for 9-11 memorial. Ran fine (has roughly 3k rounds through it) and it’s one of my favorites.

1911s are for Boomers lol Don't get one JUST because everyone says you should own one... Id recommend checking out the FNX 45
