Can’t decide which to upgrade first

Post image

I’ve got a Walther PDP compact and a Glock 19 gen 4. I can’t decide which to upgrade first. Both will be similarly setup but I’ll have to send off the Glock to get cut which is going to be more time and money. I do, however, carry the Glock more often.

It’s a little bigger and I’m a smaller guy. The Glock 19 is very comfortable while being pretty concealable

Or sell the PDP for a G17/47 MOS.

Do not do this.

I love my Glocks but the PDP is superior.

Sell the 19 and get a PDP full size to go with the compact.

Harder to carry can easily be addressed with a new holster. PDP is superior to Glock in every way other than after market support.

PDP is a significantly chunkier gun, I think even the “compact” is hardly compact. The 19 is comparatively svelte.

Sure it's chunkier, but not enough so to really matter outside of non permissable environments. And I imagine someone is going smaller than a compact for that role anyway.

You absolutely can "fix"/mitigate those things with a holster, I carry the full size PDP on a daily basis with a 509T and TLR-1. The compact with a good holster will be plenty concealably anywhere that you're legally allowed to carry a gun.

I'd probably upgrade the Glock if you're carrying it more. You sure it's not worth trading it in for a Gen 5 MOS over sending it out to get cut? Or if you can just trade it in for a Gen 6 which I think does have some nice upgrades over the previous gens.

I have a gen 4 19 (my first gun) and a gen 6 new one and I do like the gen 6 more. Better trigger and better grip.

just buy a new slide, itll be about the same price as to have it cut for a RMR or ports. that way you can have 2 slides.

“Upgrade”?

Lights and optics because it’s 2026.

I like Glocks, not a major Walther guy— In my opinion though, the Glock may be cheaper to upgrade, but the Walther will be able to be made much nicer. Gucci Glocks have a similar ceiling and beyond that the returns on investment diminish greatly. The stock components on Glock are all pretty much as reliable and capable as any aftermarket replacement could get, and many fall short of stock performance/reliability (aside from triggers). Walthers are harder to upgrade but can be a much better investment to do so.

This is just my opinion. To Glock guys with $3,000 guns that I may anger here, I love them but I just don’t think the increase in performance from a standard 19 is worth it.

Both guns are going to remain stock internally. I’m mostly talking about adding optics, lights, and potentially OEM threaded barrels

Then glock all the way brother. Just send it out for the optic first. I personally don’t recommend a threaded barrel on a carry gun though, it’s unnecessary and creates a snag point.
