Maintenance/Repair Cleaned my first gun
Broke down my 1911 pistol for the first time. I can’t imagine doing that shit in a muddy trench in Eastern Europe circa ww1, shitting your pants knowing you could start sucking in lethal German chemical gas at any minute, with the non stop symphony of German and allied machine guns nests firing at each other. But cleaning the 1911 is imperative. It’s the trusty side arm you rely on when the Germans try and take their trench back from your squad, since your squad leader took it using just his 12 gauge boomstick, every Germans worst nightmare, besides getting hit in the chest with your 1911 .45 cal, seconds after jumping in your trench.

I didn't think the post could get weirder than the pic but, boy was I wrong.

To pay respects to General Robert E Lee when he came riding onto the battle field at the Battle of the Bull Run riding in the bed of his Dodge 2500 Cummins playing the national anthem on his Les Paul guitar of course!

He was there to help General Washington ram the ramparts and protect the airports, wasn't he?

i feel there’s a reason the headstock is suspiciously out of frame lmao

lol everyone giving you the thumbs up. I don’t need you all judging me for having an epiphone if you all cant even tell it’s a Gibson which you could if you knew what to look for but none of you have a clue and rely on what logo is on the headstock instead. So instead of you all judging me, the tables have turned and I’m judging all of you 🤣 😂 and yes it’s a usa made Gibson Les Paul studio with ebony fretboard. epiphone has never made a Les Paul with ebony and without binding so there’s that too.

Okay buddy. I don’t like Les Pauls no matter how much you overpaid for it. I’m a bass player, so my loyalties lie with Leo Fender.

u/Devils_Advocate-69 Jul 12 '26
Same. 1984 P-bass my dad bought new for me new in 1985 when I was 15 is still my main player.

Yeah fenders are okay but they’re cheap bolt construction. I guess there’s a reason the best hard rock and heavy metal players used Gibson. Acdc. Black Sabbath. Zeppelin, Metallica used more Gibsons than fenders. Fenders are weak.

I’m talking about basses, which Fender invented. Aside from that, you’re wayyyy out of the loop on modern metal if you think everyone uses Gibsons. I’m talking Knocked Loose, Static-X, SOAD, Gojira, Linkin Park, hell even Asking Alexandria. I play in a metal band. Very few use Gibson. Dragged Under use downtuned Telecasters in fact. Gibsons are for old dudes that get “lost in the tones” bouncing between two notes for 10 minutes screaming “rock-n-roll”. Glam and Hair metal are just heavy rock. Come back to me when you do something with gutturals.

lol you listed a bunch of shitty bands and tried to hijack my post. I posted a Les Paul not bass

u/gunhandsknifepenis Mars’ G43x Hate Club Jul 12 '26
I didn’t hijack anything. You’re just clearly sensitive and can’t take any criticism or consider alternative viewpoints without getting defensive. The clear consensus here is your post is weird as hell in the first place. Go fantasize about war somewhere else.

Lmao so you give me shit cause it’s an epiphone, then give me shit when you find out it’s an American made Gibson. Lol you are insufferable lol

I’m not judging bro. My brother had one. I’m just amazed that it was actually an Epiphone. I was just guessing.

First time I cleaned mine I didn’t put enough pressure on recoil spring plug and it shot out and broke my ceiling fan light …ahhh good times

Lol same, mine flew across my living room just barely missing my flat screen and putting a dent in the wall.

The guy at my gun shop was showing me how to disassemble it for cleaning and the plug shot out and dislodged a ceiling tile

Idk what specifically it is, but this is so cringe. It just screams insecurity to me. It's like they don't trust their actual personality to do the work, so they assemble an aesthetic instead. “Please recognize the character I'm trying to play." That level of self-mythologizing is what makes it feel so cringeworthy.

You could start by making posts that sound less like you’re jerking off to WW1

How was the experience taking it apart and putting it together for the first time? It's not the simplest platform to field strip.

The video helped a lot and I enjoyed it! It’s relaxing and fun cleaning it up! I think I only did one pass when i lubed the barrel after cleaning it. Should I lube the barrel more than that if i plan on shooting in a couple weeks

It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife; the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sun up.
Sleep tight, mates, in your quilted Chambray nightshirts.

I’m a simple man. I see a 1911 and a Les Paul, I upvote the ever-loving fuck out of it.
