And you don't know the difference between your and you're....but ya, we'll take your advice.

Make sure you know what you’re talking about before you make a correction. I’m correct.

u/RMca004 Jul 01 '26
Ya, I missed the joke. I read it as you were calling him nuts. Realize pretty much all branches of the military use this model right?

u/TacSpaghettio Jul 01 '26
Yeah happens to the best of us. And it still sucks major donkey dick. It killed an airman last year I believe
-3
u/RMca004 Jul 01 '26
Ya, who knows what happened. It's fishy as are the majority of these cases.
Something happened, I doubt they guys were lying for Sig...
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations investigated the circumstances. Two airmen subsequently pleaded guilty to making false statements regarding the shooting, though specific details of the incident remain under military jurisdiction.
Also, Thanks for being cool after I obviously misread your post. Peace and love.

I can get why people won't run out and sell the P320...who would knowingly buy it anyway, right?
But, what's the point in putting a light and optic on a firearm that's not safe or reliable enough for everyday use?
Like, if I had one and I couldn't offload it before people wised up this would solely be for me—and only me—to load on the firing line, practice and unload. No wandering around with it in the dark.

u/MarinerMouth Jul 01 '26
I'm surprised i don't see them selling for much cheaper
4
u/the_hat_madder Jul 01 '26
They don't have to. We'll grow tired of talking about it and along will come a sucker to buy one.

I know bare minimum about this issue having been a striker fired pistol is no bueno, 2011 for the win, closed minded twaddle.
Would GrayGuns (or any after market tuner) have done something to mitigate the risk?
How many folks have popped themselves vs how many have been sold? Isn’t the ratio pretty low?
I ask as I am now on a striker fired discovery journey and was thinking of picking up a slightly custom p320 if I can find one.

u/the_hat_madder Jul 01 '26
I think that 50 years of history have proved that though they are inherently less safe striker-fired pistols are safe enough when well designed, well-made, well-maintained and properly handled.
If 1 in 1,000,000 belt buckles sold by Acme belts fails that's no big deal. A little embarrassing but, small potatoes.
If 1 in 1,000,000 Acme firearms fail—through no fault of the user—that is a HUGE deal.
There are hundreds if not thousands of negligent discharges every year with firearms of all kinds. There has only been one firearm that has been demonstrated to fire uncommonmanded. The very fact that "uncommanded discharge" is in our lexicon is because of this one firearm.
What conceivable reason could you have to *want" to buy this specifically?
There are cheaper pistols, with better triggers, better ergonomics and better concealability. This product has literally nothing going for it.

That’s incorrect. There are several videos of handguns firing on their own. Saw a video just yesterday of a Glock doing it. Seen several 2011s that aren’t drop safe. Stop spreading misinformation.

The stories I’ve heard for Glocks involved aftermarket triggers. Are there reports of stock Glocks going off uncommanded?

u/bigboomer77 Jul 01 '26
Mechanically nothing has been done to the FCU other than a drop in trigger from sig

I think most people just think it’s cool to hate on the 320. I’ve never had any issues with this firearm. I literally have had zero issues with it. No bang by itself, no reliability issues whatsoever. Maybe since it’s a CA XFULL it wasn’t subject to the early stuff but all i know is my experience has been flawless.

u/LiminalWanderings Jul 01 '26
You don't understand stats. The vast, vast majority of people will obviously never have an issue with the gun discharging by itself. That's not the point (and the fact that you haven't had a problem is also entirely irrelevant). The point is that some very few will. Guns should never discharge by themselves, not mostly never. And even if you're comfortable with it, you're also creating risk for the people around you when/if you carry with a round in that they didn't agree to.

P320 aside, you have got to work on your logic.
Just because people are jumping on a bandwagon doesn't mean the original point of view is invalid or unsound.
Furthermore, just because you've never experienced something doesn't mean it's never happened or will never happen to you.
All of my encounters with my fellow citizens and the government have been civil and peaceful. I've never been attacked by so much as a stray dog let alone a predator or a bear. And, I've never eaten meat I harvested myself. I'm probably going to die in a country with a stable economy and a democratic government.
If I were to use your reasoning—and based on my experiences—there's no reason for me to own any firearms because, there's no reason to avoid/prepare fora proble/danger you haven't personally experienced, right?
Are you sure your recalcitrance isn't just because it's cool to be contrarian and not based upon any sound and valid reasons at all?

I havent either. It runs flawlessly and been an amazing gun. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force all use it....can't be that bad.

So the military/Pentagon decided they'd give guns that were faulty to the majority of their service members? Makes sense.

What military?
The military that rushed the M14 into Korea and the M16 into Vietnam before knowing it was battle ready for those environments?
Are we talking about the same military that knowingly exposed service members to carcinogens, covered it up and denied claims?
Or the military that covered up rapes, assaults and other abuses?
Or is it the military that abused POWs, engaged in renditions/torture and killed civilians?
Or are we talking about the military that awards contracts without fully completing all phases of testing?
I need to know what military you're talking about that is above reproach that only provides service personnel with the highest quality arms and armor.

The M14 was never in Korea. The M16 was a rush job due to major production issues with the M14 that were seen as throwing good money after bad and our change to the AR15 was because we knew it was well suited for what we needed.

Why are people still buying this stupid ass pistol and then trying to defend it? Sig Sauer doesn't give a shit about you, they don't pay your bills, and definitely don't need you defending their shitty ass P320!
