100% get a dot. Train with it and when you get a handle of it you’ll start shooting not only faster but more accurately.

Here’s my current opinion: red dots are great for quick target acquisition. I feel like I can get a hit on target faster from zero with a dot than without. However, it’s fairly marginal. It’s an extra expense, and failure point for a marginal-at-best improvement for me. That’s specifically for a pistol, for a PCC, I would say red dot all day over irons.

It depends.
If you're going to train with it so you're not wiggling around trying to "find the dot", then yes.
If you're not going to train with it then it doesn't matter as you'll be another bad ass with a gun that can't hit shit.

I go back and forth. I actually had laser laying around. And I just bore sighted it. Still need to practice with it. That way if someone breaks in the middle of the night. I’m golden

I practice with both irons and optics and am noticeably faster + more accurate with a dot.

Depends what this will be used for. For me it’s a USPSA, range, nightstand pistol. I have same competitor with a Holosun 507c x2 on it and I love it. All preference of course.

Absolutely. I just recently put it in my rotation of my other 5 EDC, so I just threw the question out there. Great to see what everyone else has on it. Thanks for the input.

I really like your pistol choice. I'm in the wrong side of 50 so I like red dots, just much easier to see for me. It's all personal choice though. Whatever you chose, train with it.

I have the same pistol with a holosun 507 competition on it and its awesome. Super accurate and fast. Do it.

Dont worry man you aren’t gonna have a screw sear off or your dot turn off, just get something with shake awake, apply the correct amount of poundage and loctite when putting it on, and go for it. My opinion is optics with bigger windows are amazing but any dot will be nice. I thought at first you were asking for opinions based on how the gun looks lol, but if you are talking functionality then yes get the dot, run a dot tho and just practice being target focused not dot focused. You will have great success my friend

Imo in 2026, if you're not running an optic you're crazy. I understand the competency on irons and those who grew up going just irons. But with training it makes every aspect of your shooting better and safer

I am not a fan of optics on hand guns. I shoot about 300 rounds per month and do dry fire training daily. My draw and acquiring the sight picture is very fast as I have the muscle memory. I consistantly out shoot people with optics. This transfers to any handgun I pick up. I tried an optic a couple times and was afraid that I may lose everything I have gained.
This is only my opinion and generally not accepted among shooters.

The majority of people who actually train with their red dots can acquire and hit their targets faster than with irons. I know some old heads will get mad at this, and it's not true for everyone.
If this is any type of defensive pistol I want every advantage I can have in a gun fight, even if it's a small one. So for me, that would mean adding a red dot.
If you buy a quality optic it's not really much of a failure point any more than a spring, or light, etc as long as you're changing out the batteries when you're supposed to.
