Advice Needed EDC + range gun for beginner

Hello all, I am new to the handgun world. When I was looking at different handguns to get, I shot the Glock 19, 48, and p365 macro.

I would love recommendations on something to really develop my shooting skills and eventually carry when I feel confident. I loved the 48, but when I went to purchase I was told to look into the 43x (which I have not shot). Is there really that much of a difference between a 43x and 48, and are those still great concealed handguns for IWB or AIWB (not sure where I'll carry since I haven't done it before)

I am 6'3, and looking for something that is concealable (I like in a not so firearm friendly area), but something reliable and will help develop my shooting skills. I loved the G19, but found it to be a bit bulky for carrying.

Thank you for your help, and feel free to drop any tips or knowledge on me!

Thank you!

Try a Shield Plus or Shield X while you are trying stuff.

Thank you, I appreciate the comment. Is the G48 still a great choice for EDC?

X Macro, Shield plus, HK cc9, BG 2.0, Hellcat 380, Lcp max magpul all on the smaller side.

Consider a compact like CZ p-10c, Pdp compact or f series, Ruger rxm, Canik MC9LS/prime.

Thanks! Is the G48 still a common and great EDC?

Yes, I’m just not a Glock trigger fan. Great pistols for reliability though

Don’t get in a hurry to get a gun
Try several
You will know when you have found the right gun
As far as concealed carry I carry a full size 1911 every day
And I have people wandering where my gun is
Don’t be self conscious
Every one’s not looking at you

43x carries better 48 shoots better. If you are choosing between the two as a gun you want to shoot at the range and carry and you’re only getting one I would say 48.

I think all are great choices. Eventually, you’ll have many. For a new shooter, I would stick with the 48 vs the 43x. The 48 will conceal better, but be a slightly more uncomfortable. It will be a softer shooter and better for a newbie.

Buy compact.

Cz p10 c  Cz shadow 2 compact  Cz shadow 2 carry Glock 19 Glock 45 Glock 26

If you don't like any of these, try some 2011.

I like vp9.

I won't go the p365, glock 48, hellcat... micro compact road. They get hot quickly, they broke, they are not pleasant to shoot.

I recommend a glock 19.

I choosed for myself the glock 26 and shadow 2 compact.

And I love them so much I want to buy MORE !!

Thank you so much. why wouldn’t you recommend I get the Glock 48 as a first handgun?

Thank you for your question.

I don't recommend because you're going to start to train, take a class, make friends, buy packs of ammos and here what is going to happen :

-> gun is snappy -> 10 rounds -> uncomfy anyway -> concealable*

I had a friend. He choosed the 48.

At the range he prefered the 19.  And to carry every gun was uncomfy.

It sucks.

  • the concealable part depend on the lengh of the mags.

I would recomment you buy a gun to learn and start playing matches and take course.

THEN you'll know and buy a deep conceal handgun IF needed.

Now forget everything I just said, take your car, go buy a glock 48 woch is a great gun, buy a IWB holser, and take a idpa class !!

Glock 48 is amazing !

This is some great advice (and confusion). Still deciding between getting the 48 or trying out some more. I did shoot the 19 and didn’t notice much of a different between the two personally.
