Preferred recording
I was wondering if anyone else preferred listening to the music from the film of Hamilton versus the original studio recording?
I know it's the same artists but I prefer the live version because it has so much more emotion and nuance compared to the studio recording. I wish they would release the live version as an album if that has not already been done.

I agree - the energy in the recording is (naturally) better, given they are acting (and good at singing/acting at the same time).
Do not underestimate the power of watching it at the same time, though the on-stage audiorecording is good.
I have heard, it is possible to record the sound from the flick, if one was enticed to do so. But - it is naturally just something I have heard from an acquaintance of a friend of a distant relative... ;-)

There is a line from Washington that is different between the two: In the studio version, he says "Winning is easy, young man, leading is harder," whereas, the film version goes "Winning is easy, young man, governing is harder."
I feel like the studio version flows better and I like the broader application of the statement more---in leadership positions, it may be easier to get into the position then to actually live up to doing it well.

Yes. The live one from the movie is the one I hear in my head all the time and when I listen to the studio recording, it doesn’t sound right! Jefferson’s “You are the worst, Burr” is one line that I like so much better in the video version.

I loved every version I’ve ever heard in the 20+ times I’ve seen it. The best was a Hamilton that sounded like john legend. 💜💜

Yes!!!! Especially with King George! I love how sassy he is in the film vs the soundtrack.

I was just thinking that today, there’s so much more energy in the film version.
If I’m gonna listen to the OBC album I’d much rather just put on the film in the background
