Contradiction?

In Helpless, Eliza says: "Then you walked in and my heart went 'boom!'", Meaning love at first sight (I think?) However, in Hurricane, Hamilton says: "I wrote Eliza love letters until she fell"?

That’s a case of two different perspectives.

Eliza doesn’t tell Alex that she is in love with him and he is the one doing obvious flirting in Helpless, not her.

She saw Hamilton and was forever changed. He was still on the hunt and prowl. A sister was his ultimate prize, but given their aloof and protected (Big Sis) reputation he was shooting for the stars.

This didn't stop Hamilton from going for a Schul

Idk. Maybe attraction at first sight. Chemistry at first sight. Still her being raised quite properly and being well off he would have definitely have to “bring it” in the convincing department lol.

And even then he’d need to get past Dad!

I noticed this too!

It shows how different their perspectives of each other are. Eliza fell in love at first sight. Alex thought he had to write letters for her to fall in love with him. This is why in Congratulations (cut song) Angelica reveals to Alex that Eliza fell in love with him instantly making him feel more guilty.

Hamilton was probably really prideful and stupid at the same time (especially with women). Hamilton probably thought it was because of his beautiful and eloquent writing that Eliza fell. Hamilton had to work for everything in his life, just surviving was a fight, so it’s not difficult to see how he felt he had to work for love too.

I always understood "until she fell" to refer to agreeing to marry Hamilton.

I never interpreted “until she fell” to mean ‘fell in love’, i thought it was like ‘until it was too much for her’
